About this deal

Bough the asi485mc. My thought was that the camera has a large enough chip to allow for some EAA and still be a great planetary camera. Celestron's signature orange-tube telescope combines advanced features and excellent optics in one easy-to-use system, the NexStar 6SE. Its the perfect choice for your first serious telescope, offering striking views at an economical price. Here's how it went for me. Maybe there are some lessons there for you to learn and avoid the mistakes I've made. The battery compartment on this finderscope is located on top of the unit. Use a Philips-head screwdriver to loosen the screw holding the battery door closed. The screw is captured and will not fall out when you open the battery door.

I was amazed by how bright and sharp this all appeared and this is all despite being in a City and a heavily polluted sky. Tripods with head Tripod Heads Video Heads Ball Heads Three Way Heads Specialist & Gimbal Heads Tripod Legs Tripod Accessories Mini Tripods & Clamps It’s great for planetary and lunar observations. Paired with the right eyepiece, you can see the cloud bands on Jupiter, the rings on Saturn and even craters on the moon. I found a beginning astrophotography YouTube video by Trevor Jones that had some solid tips and the 2 biggest contributors to my progress was getting a 60MM refractor (Zenithstar 61) and pairing it with a good equatorial mount. I selected the Skywatcher HEQ5 Pro because it had enough capacity to handle my 6SE.Saturn’s rings are easily visible, as is the Cassini Division within them, the latter provided you have good sight. Around half a dozen moons can be spotted, along with faint variations in the tones of Saturn’s cloud bands. Saturn’s largest moon, Titan, is visibly not a star and appears a slightly gold color. Our first target was Mars, its red hue immediately obvious, with other solar system targets even more impressive. Jupiter’s moons were presented clearly around the giant planet’s bright, happily, optically precise disk. There was no hint of any color fringing around this bright object. Ditto a First Quarter Moon, on which we observed the light and shadow close to the sunset/sunrise line. We could clearly see the magnificent Apennine Mountains, using high-power eyepieces to survey Mare Imbrium and the Archimedes crater in impressive detail. But... I saw the hype around the HyperStar v6 and decided to jump on it. Now I know this is a whole different topic, but it is something to consider. The HyperStar will turn that OTA into an astrophotography machine. I wouldn't recommend it too early though. It has a steep learning curve. especially collimation.

With a computerized scope, each time you start a new observation, you need to enter your current local time, the date, and your location. With any technology that is driven by software or other programs, there is the potential for glitches. This system is no different. When it is all working correctly, the experience is nothing short of magical, but there have been some hang-ups. Celestron promises a great deal when it comes to the operational abilities of this instrument, so we were delighted to discover that the NexStar 6SE did exactly what it says on the tin when we took it out to test on a clear December evening. Alignment Procedures SkyAlign, 1-Star Align, 2-Star Align, Auto 2-Star Align, Solar System Align, EQ North / EQ South Alignment (EQ align requires an equatorial wedge) Saturn’s rings are easily visible, as is the Cassini Division within them, the latter provided you have good sight. Celestron Nexstar 6SE review What are you buying? 1. 6” Planetary and deep space telescope I therefore was keen to find a telescope that was equally portable as it was powerful with great Aperture. This is that very scope. Note that you need 8 AA batteries to power the computerized mount and hand controller. Batteries are not included with the telescope.

It is a little disappointing that Celestron could not add in one of their other power options that are less annoying than pure AA battery use into their telescope kit. However, there are still plenty of accessories that come included. At Rother Valley Optics, one thing we pride ourselves on is customer service and quality of our equipment. When we test your telescope, we will ensure that it is of the highest quality otherwise, we will reject the scope under our strict quality control and test another model for your peace of mind. One of the main values to look at when testing a refractor is the Strehl ratio. The higher this number, the higher quality lens you have. At Rother Valley Optics, we will guarantee the highest possible Strehl ratio for your telescope. We will aim to provide 0.95 Strehl or higher on Takahashi, RVO Horizon, William Optics and many more! Generally, the higher the Strehl ratio, the lower the Astigmatism and Coma meaning a better image quality from your instrument. The NexStar 6SE is one of the more expensive amateur astronomy telescopes you can buy. It’s also one of the most advanced. You could strap this database onto every telescope out there on the market, and only a handful of them are going to be able to utilize it effectively. The Celestron NexStar 6SE Telescope is one such telescope. Creating an extensive database for the sake of creating something large and impressive is one thing, but creating such a massive database and then creating a telescope that can show all of the objects properly is another thing entirely. With your fingernail on either side of the battery, pry the battery up and out of the battery compartment. The few bright emission nebulae that dot our skies look magnificent in the 6SE, particularly if you use a good UHC nebula filter on them. The Trapezium star cluster’s fainter members, nestled within the heart of the Orion Nebula, are an easy catch. Planetary nebulae look decent with the 6SE, and some begin to show teal or blue coloration.
