About this deal

Once happy with the 3 layers. I used my Pyramid Sequencer and a Keystep to work out a basic chord progression, sequence it and then record it. This USB MIDI Interface is a perfect tool for musicians who want to be able play their favorite songs on any instrument they have without having an extra computer. This interface comes with onboard presets, making it easy and fun. Use your 22 network MIDI ports anyway you want. Connect each of the 22 RTP-MIDI sessions to any combination of physical or virtual I / O ports. Almost any combination is possible. Ethernet RTP-MIDI Network port - 22 virtual network ports can easily be assigned to onboard DIN and USB ports as well as any other connected computing devices. These make all MIDI devices accessible to Mac, PC, iOS and other mobile computing devices via a single cable.

The mioXL is basically a "fixed" version of the mio10 with some new features (presets, onboard USB hub, expanded RTP-MIDI ports, new version of the Auracle software). I currently use 2x mioXL units and 2x mio10 units in my setup and while I haven't ever tried any scientific measurements on jitter or latency, I haven't experienced any issues or noticed anything out of normal for PC-based MIDI sequencing (and I've been doing that since the DOS days). My four units are all networked together via wired Ethernet and the newer/better capabilities of the mioXL as far as configuring netMIDI makes it actually usable now and totally worth it. I'm getting very close to replacing my other two mio10s at this point.

Features

If you follow a similar process to what I did here, there's *NO WAY* to screw it up. This is literally as easy as it could possibly be. I'm a software engineer by trade true, but one that values a good HCI, and this one is great but has one major flaw that I didn't talk about yet. So this morning I've spent time trying to dig in the the MioXL. I also own a Mio10 which I originally mainly used as a central MIDI hub so that everything could talk to everything - and this worked great! I now have two interfaces because my space grew (yay!) and I have synths on both sides of the room now. My goal was to route MIDI between the two units over MIDI RTP (which I haven't yet figured out how to really do) because all my hardware sequencers are connected to the MioXL while I have all my keyboarded synths connected to the Mio10.

The device has 10 input-out DIN connections for all your favourite devices. It also comes with a printed user guide that will help you get started right away. Simply drop a mioXL or mioXM anywhere you have physical MIDI I/O, run an Ethernet cable from each device to an Ethernet switch, connect the switch to your computer and BAM! Everything can talk to everything else! It wasn't until I experienced a very capable IConnectivity employee who owns and uses many of their products struggle over 6+ hours to enter data into various columns of two pieces of software (Auracle plus network sessions in Audio Midi Setup) and *still* not get it fully connected that I realized it isn't just me: this is one *ridiculously* complex & arcane setup process if one wants to use the midi over ethernet functions. Even for standard USB & midi routing Auracle seems to me a denser and less intuitive piece of software than many. After doing this several times (and after having returned the first unit hoping the second would be better),I finally gave up.

Specifications

Auracle for X-Series is our configuration program originally for mioXL and mioXM, but expanded to cover most configuration for the AUDIO4c, iConnectMIDI2+, iConnectMIDI4+, iConnectAUDIO2+, iConnectAUDIO4+, mio2, mio4, mio10, PlayAUDIO12, and PlayAUDIO1U. We just love this thing! It's so versatile and easy-to use. You can control all your instruments from one keyboard or several keyboards, depending on what sounds best for any given situation. There's also presets that allow you to save time by loading different ways of tweaking tone quality with ease. It makes life easier when you have options like these at your fingertips. Easily store and recall unique MIDI routing, filter and merging setups to preset scenes, and recall them all directly via the mioXL front panel. Driver Compatibility - Interfaces that use their own drivers have to be updated all the time, or they stop working properly. Likewise some designs were USB Class-Compliant years ago, but today they aren't anymore. We engineer our drivers to today's strict guidelines, and keep them updated, to ensure compatibility for years to come. Our unique network technology is as easy to use as USB! Enjoy your new-found MIDI power without extra headaches.
