About this deal

One thing that did really work for me is that Midnight Secretary is a manga about adults. I’ve been getting really into anime and manga over the past few years, but I’m always frustrated when the vast majority of stories seem to revolve around high school and teenage characters. I prefer reading about grown-ups doing grown-up things, especially when there’s romance involved. So the fact that Midnight Secretary is about career-driven adults who sometimes need to drink blood is nice. General thoughts: I was very surprised to find this book in my local train station book store - the US hasn't had any of Tomu Ohmi's mangas licensed yet, and although this series was quite popular in scanlation circles I hadn't heard of a German license. This is part one of the three part serial series, Vampire CEO by Erin R. Bedford. I’ve never read anything by Ms. Bedford before so I really had no idea what to expect and what a wonderful surprise this was.

Magic is a tool to bend to our will. There is no limit to what it can do if one has the desire to do so.”Both the story and artwork for Midnight Secretary Volume 2 are by Tomu Ohmi, and are really well done. I felt the style is well suited to the story and very clean and crisp. Now, I did mention this is an ADULT manga, and as such there are adult situations including sex and nudity. The sexy content in this volume is increased...... by a lot. This manga is NOT suitable for children or younger readers. Also, If you find themes like machismo, domination, or retro gender equality uncomfortable, you may want to skip this series. All in all I had a lot of fun reading Midnight Secretary Volume 2 and intend to continue on with the series. Puny Earthlings: How vampires see humans. To them, humans are just a source of food, tools, and an occasional sex toy. Overall, this is turning into an interesting series. Not sure how long it will last. The plot seems to indicate only a few more volumes but we shall see if more depth is presented in future volumes. I definitely need to read more of Tomu Ohmi’s works, because Midnight Secretary was a real treat. A perfect series to read over the holidays. I just wish it was longer, and that the last volume was developed a bit more, as certain lose ends got tied up a bit too conveniently. Kaya has decided that it's best to trust her heart, and express her love, even though she feels that Kyohei will never feel the same about her as she does about him. Funny thing being that he does, and it frightens him, so he feels he must have time away from her.

At a time when so much seems to be at stake, can both just open up to one another, and express how they truly feel about each other? Or, will they each let the other slip away forever?Kaya Satozuka is in the early stages of her career. She’s dedicated to her work, and will do whatever it takes to be successful. She dresses like a stereotypical librarian with glasses and a tight bun, because she looks really young and wants to be taken seriously. When she starts a new job, her new boss Kyohei immediately insults her looks, and tries to dismiss her. But Satozuka is stubborn and determined, and demands that he give her a chance and let her work speak for herself. Ohmi gives us several twists and turns: love rivals, pregnancy scares, kidnappings, job losses, business collapses, chapel-based murder attempts…the list goes on. By the time I got to the final volume I was really sad to see it all end, especially because it concludes during a major storyline that I would have loved to see more of (not a cliff-hanger, just a particular development in their relationship), but at least we got a wedding. Also, a bonus chapter in volume seven features sassy female vampire Marika and her own “midnight butler”. Seeing the roles reversed like this made me yearn for a whole series of Marika and her man. It’s makes a nice change to see a dominant female. Hopefully we get to see more of Marika, one day. Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: Kaya and Kyouhei. He's way over One Head Taller and more than twice as wide at the shoulder. It's especially clear in several of the chapter covers. During the main story and especially during love scenes the physical difference between them is much less obvious. Favorite Quote: “Then you have to keep your mouth and fangs to yourself!” she jumped up from the couch, not minding the blanket that fell to the floor. Rebecca Silverman (2013-10-27).
