About this deal

Contrary to popular belief, chalk paint is incredibly versatile and can be used to paint fabrics as well as furniture and vases. Almost any chalk paint will work well on fabric, but we prefer Country Chic, because it is inexpensive and comes in more than 50 different colors. So that’s too much. So you’re gonna spread that out a long way, so a small amount of wax does go a long way. I’ll take my cloth and very lightly, not going mad. I’m just removing any excess, that’s all there is. The best chalk paint is Rust-Oleum Ultra Matte Interior Chalked Paint. With outstanding adherence and durability, this paint is great for a wide variety of surfaces. For small craft projects where you don't want a lot of leftover paint, we recommend FolkArt Home Decor Chalk Paint, which comes in bottles as small as 2 ounces and costs just about a dollar an ounce. What to Look for in a Chalk Paint Surface Compatibility

Stir your pot thoroughly prior to use to ensure the colour is properly mixed. If applying by brush, apply evenly following the grain of the wood. If rolling, use a short nap mohair roller. For the best results when using the Antique Gold Shabby Chic Furniture Paint, ensure the surface is clean and free from wax or oil. If wax has been used clean the surface thoroughly with white spirit. We recommend that bare wood should be sanded before painting. Applying your Antique Gold Shabby Chic Furniture Paint Rub n’ Buff’s European Gold has a brighter, more yellow tone, while Antique Gold has a warmer, more brown tone. Antique Gold is better suited for creating an aged, antique look. Can I Mix Rub n’ Buff Colors to Achieve an Antique Gold Finish?Rub n’ Buff is not recommended for outdoor use as it is not waterproof and may deteriorate when exposed to moisture. Can I Use Rub n’ Buff on Metal for an Antique Gold Finish? Available in 15ml tubes in five colours: Warm Gold, Bright Gold, Bright Silver, Dark Silver and Copper. Wipe away any sanding dust and apply a final coat of Clear Chalk Paint™ Wax. This will seal and protect this piece. Apply Annie Sloan Gilding Wax in two colours (e.g. Bright Gold and Warm Gold) building up the wax in layers for an authentic, uneven look. Sand the raised details with a sanding sponge to expose some of the gold paint. This will really make the details stand out.

Want to know how to use gilding wax? Annie Sloan Gilding Wax can be applied with a lint-free cloth or a brush. It is a finishing product, so should be applied after Clear Chalk Paint™ Wax. See how Annie does it by watching this handy tutorial. You can also read our Gilding Wax Fact Sheet. To use the chalk paint on upholstery, evenly spray the fabric with water, and brush on the chalk paint (you may want to dilute it slightly). If necessary, apply a second or third coat of paint to get the desired effect. You can successfully transform a side chair or even an entire sofa with this chalk paint in minutes. Dust can prevent paint from adhering to upholstery, so be sure to clean and vacuum the surface before beginning. The paint is free of chemicals like phthalates, formaldehyde, or heavy metals and comes in 4-, 16-, and 32-ounce containers, so you can choose the right size for your needs.Paint the gold mirror frame with chalk paint. Be sure to get into all of the nooks and crannies on the raised details. Let dry at least 30 minutes and apply a second coat. So to do it, I’m just going to put a little bit on my finger… a tiny bit and then I’m going to start wiping just to show up the relief. And because there’s quite a bit of texture in the paint, it’s not applying it flatly, which is perfect. Some of you won’t want to use your finger. I like it because it’s sensitive, but you could put a cloth over it, or you could use a brush. It’s just that you have to be a little bit more sensitive to it, but it’s fine. It’s your choice. Yes, Rub n’ Buff can be used on metal surfaces to achieve an antique gold finish. Make sure the surface is clean and dry before applying. Can Rub n’ Buff be Used on Picture Frames for an Antique Gold Finish?

Allow the wax to cure (harden) before use. It will be touch dry within 24 hours, but will take up to 2 weeks to fully harden. You can use it during this time, just be gentle. Protective waxing or a sealer coat of polyurethane can extend the life of chalk paint. Experts recommend sealing chalk paint finishes with a protective wax to prevent wear and tear, especially in high-traffic areas or high-touch surfaces. For peace of mind, brands like Rust-Oleum and others provide their own protective top coats designed for use with their chalk paint.I found a dated gold mirror at a church sale not long ago and I knew it would look fabulous with a coat of paint. This month, I’ve joined my blogger friends from The At Home DIY group for another fun challenge. As the theme is “update with paint”, I will show you how to update a gold mirror with chalk paint. I’ve waxed everything with the Clear Wax and now I’m going to sand it. I’m going to use my Sanding Pads. They’re really good because you’ve got the medium one, that’s the green one. The pink one is a fine one, and the blue one is coarse. Now usually I’ll start with the medium one and the coarse one because the fine one is for when I’ve sort of want to finish

This paint dries to the touch in 30 minutes. However, if you’re looking for a more opaque finish, you’ll have to wait at least two hours between coats. While primer isn't necessary with this chalk paint, it is highly suggested for unfinished wood. You also don't need to sand your surface for the paint to adhere. If paint gets on the floor by accident, the latex formula makes it easy to clean up with just soap and water.Gilding Wax is particularly good for bringing out ornate carvings and mouldings, enhancing texture and detailing. You can use it on furniture, but you might want to try it on decorative items such as a lamp base or picture frame too. Step by step guide to using gilding wax on furniture You can’t do it like you’re just cleaning something: you just polish it all off. You’ve really got to use the – these are great because they’re flexible, you can do them how you want. By using the wax to begin with it doesn’t take it off too easily. Some places I’ve gone right through to the wood there I really like that. I think it works for this very, very nicely. Once your base colour is dry, use a clean Chalk Paint™ Brush to apply the second colour. This coat can be thinner than the first to make it easier to sand through to the base colour.
