About this deal

It is also one of the cheapest products that we will look at on this list. If you are looking at recreating a classic gin and tonic, but without the alcohol, then I think this could be the drink for you. There is nothing particularly fancy about it, it just does the job it sets out to do. When it comes to the production of alcohol free gin, there are two main methods that are used. First, you have one that is pretty similar to the traditional gin-making technique. This involves a neutral grain spirit (or plain alcohol), mixed with plenty of botanicals (fruits, herbs, spices etc) in a copper still that is then heated up. As the alcohol vapour rises, it is captured and cooled to become a liquid again – bringing with it the flavours from the botanicals. Some research has suggested that ginseng could offer health benefits, such as improved focus and better immunity. But a lot of these claims have not been heavily researched.

Both methods are very complex and time consuming. If you get the timing slightly off, the taste can be ruined, and there is a much greater focus on using the finest botanicals, as that is where all the flavour comes from. That is why you may often find that alcohol free gin is often just as, if not more expensive than the gin that contains alcohol. Top Alcohol Free Gins Another 8-week study showed that taking 3 g per day of American ginseng significantly reduced fasting blood sugar levels and improved hemoglobin A1c, a marker of long-term blood sugar control, compared to a placebo in people with type 2 diabetes ( 36). Let’s head over to London now for our next alcohol free gin, this one is from CleanCo. They have only been around since 2019, but in that short amount of time they have created a decent range of different alcohol free drinks, including their Clean G, the gin alternative.Again, I find it fascinating that the vague term “plant” is included. Technically speaking this means that a gin such as Radoune which uses mushrooms could not be considered a London Gin (mushrooms are fungi, not plants). Finally, though a distilled gin may be dry, a London Gin is codified that it must be dry. “It is not sweetened in excess of 0.1 grams of sweetening products per liter of the final product, expressed as invert sugar.” It has quite a complex pallet – combining lighter citrus flavours with the slightly harsher sage and cascarilla bark, and then you get a refreshing finish with lemongrass and orange. Served with tonic over ice, with a slice of orange, it is a wonderfully crisp and pleasing drink. Some test-tube and animal studies show that components in ginseng, like ginsenosides and compound K, could protect the brain against damage caused by free radicals ( 11, 12).

Methanol is toxic and sometimes referred to as “wood alcohol,” in reference to one common fermentable that produces it: wood. If you ever wondered why we no one distills wood, this is why. It’s poison. Last year the brand launched a gin flavoured with four distillations of wild juniper exclusively for the travel retail market at stores operated by travel retailer Dufry in Spain. Called Larios Provenzal, the gin uses a base of corn in its distillation “to give the liquid a smoother profile”, which is then flavoured with a selection of fresh Mediterranean citrus fruits. In essence though, the current legislation is a de facto encoding of the term “London Dry Gin” without having to appeal for a more prestigious protection that would likely have resulted in many “London Dry Gins” losing the ability to use the term. In terms of its portfolio, In 2018, the brand launched Beefeater Pink, a gin expression infused with strawberries and targeted at “young millennials”, taking Beefeater London Dry gin as a base. It was the first innovation to be launched by The Gin Hub, a stand-alone entity that brings together three of Pernod Ricard’s gin brands: Beefeater, Plymouth, Seagram’s and Monkey 47, under one roof. Beefeater Pink was followed by the launch of Beefeater Blood Orange in 2019, underlining once more a trend for flavoured gins. More research is needed to determine if ginseng is a reliable treatment for erectile dysfunction. Flu prevention

Regulate blood sugar. Several studies in people have shown that ginseng may lower blood sugar levels. Ginseng tea is made from the ginseng root. You can buy already-made teas or make them yourself out of roots or powder. During fermentation, both methanol and ethanol are produced. Proper distillation removes the methanol. Interestingly, one study in 6,422 older adults found that regular consumption of ginseng for at least 5 years was associated with improved cognitive function later in life ( 13).A larger study in 2014 followed 71 postmenopausal females who took 3 grams (g) of red ginseng or a placebo daily for 12 weeks. Antioxidant activity and oxidative stress markers were then measured ( 8). This is all great, but to be honest it wouldn’t have any relevance to this list if the drink didn’t pass our taste test – well I’m delighted to tell you that it passed with flying colours. They have brought all of their expertise from the alcohol making side of their business into this non-alcoholic equivalent, and it really shows. Some research has suggested that ginseng dried herbs may offer more health benefits than raw ginseng. While you can dry ginseng yourself, the process can be complicated. Prepared dried ginseng is sold at many retail stores and online. Ginseng in Food

Some test-tube studies have shown that ginseng extracts and ginsenoside compounds could inhibit inflammation and reduce oxidative damage to cells, which can contribute to chronic disease ( 4, 5, 6). When you catch the note about sugar in the London Gin specifications, it often catches people off guard. The word “dry” emerged to describe an unsweetened gin. Why would that be allowed? Its range includes Larios Dry Gin – a 37.5% abv London Dry Gin made with Mediterranean orange and lemon botanicals, and Larios 12 – a 40% abv gin featuring twelve botanicals in a blend of five distillations, enhanced with orange blossom. Jumping on the pink gin trend, in 2016 the brand launched Larios Rosé, a gin infused with strawberries.Spirits with a main characteristic flavor derived from juniper berries produced by distillation or mixing of spirits with juniper berries and other aromatics or extracts derived from these materials and bottled at not less than 40% alcohol by volume (80 proof)” [ source] This is one of the cheapest drinks on our list, and is definitely a crowd pleaser. It doesn’t have the depth that some of the others have, but it is an easy drinker that is great to offer guests and to experiment with. Definitely one to have in you cupboard while you experiment with the more expensive opinions. Standard doses of ginseng haven't been established for any condition. Quality and active ingredients in supplements may vary widely from maker to maker. This makes it hard to establish a standard dose. Most research studies suggest daily doses of 200 milligrams of Panax ginseng extract or 0.5-2 grams of dry root. When given as a capsule, dosages of ginseng usually range from 100-600 milligrams a day. This is a great company that has created a wonderful product. It is right in the middle of the sort of price you would expect to pay for an alcohol free gin, and it’s a great place to start your search – try this one, and then try to find one you like more. You might find that you struggle!
