About this deal

Presented in a resin and stainless steel case with a similar square shape to the original DW5000C from 1983 the design features a new stainless steel bezel, which both adds to the durability of the watch and gives it a new premium aesthetic while still keeping the cost and weight down. Like its brothers in arms, the GBX-100 has multiple functional displays that take full advantage of the the high-resolution display. Carrying the watch and no phone, I received no notifications, but as I mentioned above, the simple nature of carrying a stopwatch and no phone, was advantageous to me because I could disconnect. Training Function: Display of distance, speed, pace, and other calculated values based on accelerometer, auto/manual lap times, Auto Pause, target alert setting (time, calories burned) on/off, training display customization Tide information is available for 3,300 locations through the smartphone app. The GBX-100 also has training measurement functions like the G-SQUAD models, including distance, speed, pace, lap, and pitch. Other fitness features include a preset calorie use alarm, training log, and life log. The watch also has a soft urethane band.

The Tide and Moon Phase calculator is presented in three different display modes. The Tide calculator is available in a 12-hour or a 24-hour graph format. The tide display includes the moon phase and sunrise/sunset times in a smaller font. There’s also a dedicated moon phase display that includes sunrise and sunset times. The battery life is once again outstanding and it can last up to 2 years. Casio GBX 100 vs GBD 200 (Verdict) Unlike the round displays of the previous MIP LCD models, the GBX-100 has an octagonal shape that is squarish in appearance. The watch also appears to have a metal bezel and a front button. Meanwhile, the GBX-100’s killer MIP display makes it a worthwhile watch. I don’t think I’ll ever buy another traditional negative LCD watch. By some distance, the Achilles heel of most smarter-than-average watches on the market is the battery life. While there’s no solar charging, at least you still get the mobile link timekeeping feature which sets the watch time automatically. Even if the mobile link does not connect for some reason, the watch will maintain an accuracy rate of ±15 seconds per month.

The instruction manual is now available at support.casio.com. See the full specifications listed below. A variety of display modes can be activated, although while the MODE and DISPLAY buttons on the left side of the case-control much of this functionality, somewhat counterintuitively, to activate the surfer functions you need to first press the LAP button, then you can access the impressive tide graph, moon data, high and low tide times, and sunrise/sunset times screens.Second Post: The GBX-100 has a stainless steel bezel with a hairline and top honing treatment, and the rest of the case is resin. It’s a smartwatch Jim, but not as we know it. To read a text from my son required six button pushes. No matter how many times I pressed the buttons I couldn’t reply. After half a day of being more connected to my phone than I wanted to be, I turned off the notifications. Display of distance, speed, pace, and other calculated values based on accelerometer, auto/manual lap times, Auto Pause, target alert setting (time, calories burned) on/off, training display customization (elapsed time, distance, pace, lap time, lap distance, lap pace, average pace, speed, average speed, calories burned). In reality, I have as much use for the tide and moon functions as an orthodontist has a need for the helium release valve on a Rolex Sea-Dweller. But it looks cool.

Training Data (Up to 100 runs, up to 140 lap times per run) Elapsed time, distance, pace, calories burned. Time Functions: Digital hour / minute / seconds, date, day, stopwatch (1-sec), countdown timer, Four daily alarms with snooze, 12 / 24 hour format, World Time (29 time zones / 38 cities), hourly time signal, auto-light. The reason is simple: at a very similar cost, you get quite a few more features that are both interesting and practical, especially if you’re into surfing. And while the design is very similar, we think the stainless steel bezel gives GBX 100 an edge in terms of aesthetics.

So, there you have it – our verdict on the Casio GBD 200 vs GBX 100 comparison. We hope you found this article helpful and that you now know which of these watches is the right choice for you.

From what I’ve gathered from watch forum chatter, none of the Casio step-counters are accurate. Word on the street: if you’re serious about using a fitness calculator on your wrist, get a “real” wearable like the models offered by Garmin. While the first watch we compared is said to be the ideal type for those into extreme workout routines, the Casio GBX100 of the G-Lide collection was created particularly with surfing enthusiasts in mind. Design & Durability Later features such as a tide graph — which shows the times of the high and low tide for a specific beach, as well as a measurement of those tides in feet — were added. These tide indications allow surfers to determine the best conditions for each break based on the height of the waves at any given time of the day. At the same time, if you feel like you can do without the surf-exclusive features, then GBD 200 is still a great choice and will serve you well in pretty much any situation. No surprises here – just like its sibling, the GBX 100 is powered by a Japanese quartz movement that runs on a CR2032 battery. The accuracy of this caliber is +/- 15 seconds per month, although again it’s flawless when connected to your phone. BatteryThe watch measures 50.9 x 46.0 x 14.7 millimeters and weighs 66 grams, which is somewhere between the size of a DW-5600 (48.9 x 42.8 x 13.4) and GX-56 (55.5 × 53.6 × 17.5), but lighter than the GX-56’s 88 grams. It’s worth noting that the accuracy is inch-perfect when using the Mobile link function as in this case the watch is able to sync its time with your phone via Bluetooth. Battery The simplicity of the physical design makes for a lightweight and comfortable timepiece. Further, the watch sets itself and offers a number of actually useful features that are easy to access. I love the blend of modern tech, and the new steel bezel elevates the watch’s aesthetic and durability — without adding much cost or weight. The G-Lide really makes an argument for resin watches with some steel, at a time when Casio is pushing the much more expensive all-metal variants. Also provides comfort with a soft urethane band with slits that help with fit and allow water and sweat to escape.
