These sculpts were also used to create the KB Toys-exclusive the 2001 Robots in Disguise Destructicons and Robotmasters Reverse Convoy.
Despite the change to the toy's colors, the box art on this set, the same art used for the Hasbro releases, was recolored to match the blue of the previous releases. Whoops. Generation 2 was ended after about two and a half years, with several new products trapped in development limbo. A handful saw release in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand (namely the Power Masters), but most of those canceled toys stayed unreleased. (A few of the slated new molds got released in later lines with new decos, however.)This mold was retooled into Blitzwing, and redecoed into Street Fighter II × Transformers Megatron [ Vega]. Megatron would have been redecoed/retooled into Gutcruncher with a new Titan Master face for Doomshot as part of the "Action on Hydrus Four" boxset for BotCon 2017 that never came to be. All the play features are intact including the 5mm ports allowing you to attach additional accessories.
Hand-painted samples of a jungle camo-themed Starscream and a sky camo-themed Ramjet, both of whom could be new characters for all we know. The latter was eventually revived in Legacy: Evolution as Cloudcover. Noble's existence as Megatron's discarded organic portions taken in by Nightscream comes straight from his Beast Machines incarnation, although Savage has appeared separately in the Legends World as Nightscream's pet. This mold was also used, with different heads and accessories, to make the other Transformers GT toys: GT-R Prime, GT-R Saber, and GT-R Maximus. A Selects add-on to Earthrise, this version of Megatron is a redeco of the Earthrise Voyager Class mold above in the first Generation 2 toy-themed colors.The original version of this mold was use to make Archforce and 2001 Robots in Disguise Bludgeon (which has been repurposed to also be Shattered Glass Bludgeon) and Yellow Megatron. The Kreon Class of 1984 version of Megatron is even more toy-based tampographs than his prior versions, including his face detailing. Yes, it's a whole new tampograph layout. He's also mostly in metallic silver plastic, yet his helmet remains light flat gray. TRANSFORMERS G2-INSPIRED DESIGN: This Transformers: Legacy 3.5-inch G2 Universe Megatron robot toy is inspired by the animated series, Transformers: Generation 2, updated with a Generations-style design The series made a very deliberate change of direction for the franchise, bringing it into the 1990s (known as the Dark Age of comics) with extreme violence and carnage, huge guns, gritty plot lines, and a fair amount of gratuitous character death.
As a redeco of the Revenge of the Fallen Bludgeon mold, it is highly likely that Megatron is cursed with the same design fault as his brethren - the rubber treads break down over the course of years, causing them to corrode spots of plastic and leave melty gashes behind.Here's an image of the unreleased Battlefield statue I designed for First4Figures. Much like most 2020 Selects products, the toy is only branded as part of the War for Cybertron Trilogy and not Earthrise.His cannon can plug into the short barrel of the tank turret or the rifle/Headmaster vehicle weapon. In an undocumented additional feature, the rifle can be inserted into the front end of the cannon. The cannon can be mounted on his forearm or held by any figure with 5mm hands. It also has a peg hole that an accessory such as his rifle can plug into, with extra square peg holes specifically to hold the rifle in place.
