About this deal

A good mixture of wood can also help get your fire started. Fast-burning woods such as birch and hazel are excellent choices for lighting your fire and can usually be bought in kindling or bark form. Hazel is also unlikely to spit sparks. Stone fire pits are completely fireproof and weather resistant; however, they can be expensive and very heavy.

This does exactly what it says on the tin. It's designed with a fire pit in the centre of a table where you can place drinks and food – great for keeping your guests warm while you're socialising outdoors. Keep it clean and dry - this will avoid you burning old fire pit debris, help protect from rusting and corrosion, and keep whatever wood is burning dry.

Normally made of steel, this style of fire pit features intricate designs that create a picture silhouette lit by the flames behind them. You can choose from a variety of sizes, shapes and designs. As with every British summer party, the weather was looking ‘unpredictable’ and Tim’s answer to this was to make a fire pit. It made the party. We all stayed outside until the wee hours and later everyone we knew wanted one too. And that was it. Fire pits UK was born.

The Teamson Home 30” Gas Firepit with tempered glass is a must for all patio and garden areas, no matter what time of the year. Fire pits and chimineas aren’t great either. In fact, according to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), while UK air quality has improved significantly over the past few decades, the burning of solid fuels (such as coal and wood) in our homes is the largest contributor of harmful particulate-matter (PM) emissions. There are a number of different styles of fire pits available in the UK, each one with its own look, advantages and disadvantages. Our expert guide to using your fire pit covers everything you need to know, including how to get it burning, the useful fire-pit gadgets to look out for, how to maintain your fire pit, plus top fire safety tips from the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

When using regular kindling, we did detect smoke, although it was not an overwhelming amount. However, when we used the wood pellets and pellet adapter, we were able to enjoy smokeless warmth. The fire pellets did require more fire maintenance on our part, though, and we only recorded about 10 minutes of solid burn time when using the pellets. You can add more pellets to sustain the fire, but we recommend adding them slowly, because one time when the fire was getting low, we dumped a bunch of pellets at once and smothered the flames entirely. Originating from South America, chimineas consist of a round container where the fuel is burned, topped with a chimney. They are easy to maintain and keep clean, radiate heat brilliantly, and create a centerpiece for your garden that is sure to impress.Table fire pits: these are a great design for get-togethers with friends and family. They’re also ideal from a safety point of view, as they’re not on ground level, and the table surround keeps everyone a reasonable distance from the flame. We continue to be impressed by this fire pit's appearance and features. We love that it consistently puts out a very small amount of smoke. We also found it very easy to clean out and store this unit during the winter months and otherwise didn't note any changes in its looks or performance. A fire pit of this size is not going to provide as much warmth as a larger model, but we were still pleasantly surprised by the amount of warmth and the size of the flame it provided. In fact, we found it ideal for crisp fall days when we wanted a warm, cozy ambiance, or to roast a few marshmallows. A patio heater won’t give the same experience as a fire pit or a chiminea, though, and you won’t be able to cook on it, either. Ideal if you like to go camping or you don’t want the fire pit to be a permanent fixture in your garden. Portable fire pits should be lightweight, and preferably have wheels and/or a carry case to make it easy to manoeuvre and store.
