About this deal

Fresh agave and citrus upfront that is soon warmed by spices and sweet vanilla and cinnamon mid-palate. A hint of hazelnuts follows while the vegetal note is well-balanced and earthy with a moreish heated finish of agave, oak and spice. Best Served Jimador Blanco Tequila is a solid and well-made distillate that has been around since 1897 and ranks among the worlds most popular tequilas. This is not a handmade product or anything particularly valuable, but it is a discrete tequila that does not let you down and is clean and precise from a technical point of view. El Jimador Añejo spends an entire year ageing in American oak barrels, lending it an unrivalled soft and sweet taste, plus a rich dark amber colour. This tequila is rich, full-bodied, and can make any occasion special. On The Nose

The producer uses 100% Blue Weber agave for its range of Tequilas, which includes blanco, reposado and añejo. This Reposado impresses with notes of vanilla, baked apple, cinnamon, fresh agave, and oak. On The PalateEl Jimador has tremendous upside for the business, given its strong heritage and popularity in the Hispanic community…” – Jerry Preyss, CEO of Scoppechio This achievement to lead the charge is a team effort and is the result of distribution expansions, memorable activations and best-in-class brand partnerships.

Short, peppery, some heat - but very little compared to e.g. DJ anejo - a mild numbess and a very distant, well-distributed but not overpowering alcohol burn. There's some wood there, and - interestingly - the agave and fruitiness from the initial return for a second finish a few seconds later! El Jimador Reposado is the company’s take on this classic, best-of-both-worlds tequila style, aged in American oak barrels for two months. It impresses with a smooth golden colour and an even smoother taste. It was Aurelio who would give the distillery its lasting name of Herradura, named after a horseshoe that he found on the property sometime around 1900. Then, the Cristero War broke out in Mexico in 1926, a conflict where secular factions within Mexico sought to eliminate the power of the Catholic church and impose an atheist state. During this, Aurelio provided financial and material support to the Catholics and, in response, the distillery was raided and he was forced with his family into exile, leaving his cousin Don David in charge of the facility. It was David who resisted following the trend in the 1920’s of producing inferior “mixto” tequila, insisting that Herradura always remain 100% blue agave based. We recommend mixing El Jimador Reposado in various fun concoctions, making the perfect delicious punch at parties. Bought 2nd June 2011 from Selfridge's, Birmingham, England, for a trip to Stonehenge; I wanted something to introduce some friends to 100% agave tequila, and it looks like I really hit paydirt.Mixto, on the other hand, starts with a blend of agave juice and other sugarsglucose or fructose, or bothusually in the form of a sugar syrup. Mixtos were invented as a way to stretch the supply of agave and lower production costs. By law, they must be 51% agave. Most of us drank more than enough of this stuff in college.
