One of the reasons I have loved taking my kids to Walt Disney World Resort at each age and stage is that each vacation is entirely different. But each vacation has been both magical and special, with lasting memories for our family. Plan A Disney Vacation With Infants & Toddlers Experience:Having an itinerary is a big deal, even for some frequent Walt Disney World guests. Some visitors create binders, spreadsheets, and schedule every step of their day. People get serious and obsessive about this. We are not those people. Planning is important, but going to those lengths is unnecessarily stressful and creates unrealistic and rigid plans. The best laid plans often go awry, and when that inevitably happens, it can be disappointing if you’ve over-planned. The cost of a Disney World vacation varies VASTLY depending on how long you go for or what resort you are staying at (and also how many people you are bringing with you). Walt Disney World is constantly changing, and it is almost inevitable there will be some attraction refurbishments & closures whenever you visit. However, it’s also fair to say that a sunny day is better than a rainy day at Walt Disney World. Most people probably are more comfortable during mild and temperate days than oppressive heat and humidity. Seasonal events can likewise add a lot to the baseline experience, taking a trip from “memorably magical” to “magnificently magical” on our highly scientific scale of magicalness. This guide distills the key things we know about Walt Disney World into something easy to absorb and less overwhelming. The reality is that Walt Disney World is one of the most complicated vacation destinations on earth, and having a smooth and good trip requires doing your homework. With that said, we promise that taking the time to learn about Walt Disney World will be worth it, so let’s get started… 1A. Best Times to Visit for Avoiding Crowds We always found umbrella strollers worked best in the park. They made it easier for folding down if necessary and for parking. You will find stroller parking areas near most attractions. We also found using our Ergo baby carrier a lifesaver when our son was an infant. Creating a list of things you want to do will make planning much easier and make the vacation more fun! Here’s a list of can’t miss items for most families, and a can’t miss list for little kids! How Much does it cost to go to Disney World?and beyond looks a little quieter at Walt Disney World, with the only significant change being the opening of the “refreshed” Splash Mountain- Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. A number of minor changes have been announced for EPCOT over the next couple of years. Most kids would have a hard time being miserable at Walt Disney World Resort. I'm sure there are some out there somewhere, but the vast majority will LOVE it. Always be on the lookout for characters in the parks. You never know when you might stumble across someone special! That’s the result of extensive testing, and the optimal methods for outsmarting the crowds aren’t always intuitive. For 3 of the 4 parks, you’re better off using a ‘free’ strategy rather than paying extra for Genie+ and Lightning Lanes! Not only are there attractions for every age, including more than 90, with no height restrictions, the kids literally grow up with Disney. Plan A Walt Disney World Resort Vacation By Age Also, note that you can only book a Lightning Lane for a specific attraction once! If you wish to go to an attraction for the second time in a day, you would need to queue normally. Disney World provides free transportation for its guests in many ways. If you are staying in a Disney World resort hotel, you will be able to use either buses, the monorail, boats, or the Skyliner to get to the Disney World parks. Access to each of these depends on the resort you are staying in, but each resort does have a way to get to each park. Some resorts also have walking paths to nearby parks.Be prepared with a stroller. Whether you are bringing your own, renting one at the park, or renting one from an outside company (this is our favorite method, especially if you are flying to Disney), be prepared with the right stroller. If you are bringing your own, know that Disney World has specific guidelines about stroller size. Disney is always brewing new ideas, and even this year (2022), they've announced some new attractions and entertainment that will make your visit even more magical. It did get a major facelift and a new name. Most notably, it received lots of new parking, a slew of new stores (many of which are designer names) and several new restaurants.
Character Dining — Several Disney World restaurants (both in the parks and in the resorts) offer character dining. Here, you’ll eat your meal while characters come to visit your table. Disney’s Magical Express has now ended, and following a merger of two competitors, it’s indirect replacement is essentially Mears Connect Driven by Sunshine. This does cost money, but otherwise it’s roughly analogous to Disney’s Magical Express–it’s even operated by the same vendor that ran Disney’s Magical Express (same buses and everything, just no Disney branding!). Even in the winter you are dealing with the sun, the wind and way too much walking. Animal Kingdom also doesn’t do straws or lids- so you need a water bottle to prevent spillage.

Some or all of these changes might seem insignificant if you’re a first-timer, and it’s true that they may have little bearing on your vacation. But they’re a big deal for a lot of Walt Disney World diehards, and if you’re visiting after January 9, you may not even realize how much friction has been removed from your trip. (Given that you’re reading a planning post with several thousands of words, there’s still a good amount of friction…just not as much as before!) Regardless of which park you visit, you'll be able to enjoy the new experiences, attractions, nighttime specials, and outstanding fireworks.
