About this deal

If T’au players aren’t going to take standalone Drone squads, we’re certainly going to see fewer Drones on the tabletop. I would estimate that we’re going to see T’au armies with around 20 Drones of a variety of types — certainly Shield, Marker, and Gun Drones, but also Stealth Drones attached to Ghostkeels, Grav-inhibitor Drones attached to Pathfinders, and so on. The Imperium favours tried and tested technology – and while Redemptors can choose between the (admittedly exc Barracuda • Manta • Orca • Razorshark • DX-6 Remora Drone Stealth Fighter • Sun Shark • Tiger Shark • Tiger Shark AX-1-0

Fusion Blaster – Fusion Blasters are anti-tank Melta Weapons that can reduce reinforced armour to molten slag in a blink of an eye. Many Battlesuit pilots have become adept at stalking enemy armour; using their high mobility to outflank the vehicles and engage their weaker side or rear armour. White Dwarf 263 (US), "Crisis! Tau Battlesuit Teams: A Look at the Strategies of the Tau Batlesuits" by Pete Haines and Phil Kelly Puretide Engram Neurochip – Commander Puretide was undoubtedly the most gifted T'au Commander of all time. The T'au were unwilling to lose his tactical and strategic brilliance, and upon his death, his mind was scanned and his accumulated memories committed to a massive hologram program on his birth world of Dal'yth Prime. A sliver of that genius has been crafted into several bio-chips. When surgically implanted into the brain of a Fire Caste commander, the bearer can access much of the wisdom of Puretide himself from the Puretide Engram Neurochip; drawing upon a great reservoir of tactical acumen.

Every piece of Tau wargear has a unique identification code detailing its size, design and battlefield role. Battlesuits are given the classification XV followed by a numerical code to denote their mass class (size) and their evolution in the design process. The XV88 Broadside Battlesuit, for example, is a mass class 8 suit, and the eighth variation of the XV8 Crisis Battlesuit. The much larger XV104 Riptide is in the tenth mass class, while the 4 in its classification indicates that it is in the final stages of field testing. [15] Battlesuits can also have a sub-designation of the standard suit, indicating a small alteration on the generic version of the suit, but without a specific battlefield role. For example, the XV8-05 "Enforcer" armour is an enhanced version of the Crisis suit, as opposed to an XV85, which would indicate a mass class 8 stealth suit. Let’s take a look at a unit that was the boogie man of 9th edition for 3 weeks. Today’s Meta Hotness, the Tau Crisis Suit.

But it’s not all bad news. Broadsides came down in cost by 15 or 20 points, depending on the build. This was certainly a welcome change. A Broadside Battlesuit armed with two Smart Missile Systems, two High-yield Missile Pods, and an Advanced Targeting System now costs 115 points.

Being allowed to use a battlesuit, particularly the massive XV8 Crisis Battlesuits, is considered a high honour among the T'au Fire Caste, and is only granted to T'au Fire Warriors who have earned the rank and privilege required to be granted this responsibility. Such a privilege can only be attained after several Terran years of progressing through the ranks of the Fire Caste as a Fire Warrior. A Fire Warrior will normally follow a standard rate of progression and advancement in the T'au military that is based around an evaluation of their skills called a " Trial by Fire." Fire Warrior ( Fire Warrior Strike Team • Fire Warrior Breacher Team) • Pathfinder • Drone Squadron The XV8 'Agile' Crisis Battlesuit that has been retrofitted with an advanced stabilisation system and vectored retro-thrusters. This grants the suit greater maneuverability and agility. [7a] XV8 'Armored' Crisis Battlesuit
