About this deal

What’s more, the o2 Micro Filters are the first in the world to come with a convenient high-quality stainless steel drying stand and a small carrying case for easy and neat storage no matter where you’re heading.

Cloth filters generally wind up occupying the middle ground between metal filters, and are reputed to offer the clarity of the paper filter and the flavor of the metal filter. But that also means a lot of coffee particles and rather concerning coffee oils like diterpenes are more likely to slip through the filters into your cup of Joe. Please bear in mind that not all manufacturers provide correct imagery and we may put a similar or alternative image to the actual product for illustration purposes only. The actual item you receive may differ from that which is displayed, for example the box may have changed or a model may have been upgraded or changed after we have added the product online.Cloth filters are capable of being used hundreds of times, and may last longer than metal filters if handled properly. Which Is Recommended: Paper, Metal or Cloth Filters? Cap the AeroPress after attaching the respective filter – i.e., Café Concetto, Able Disk Fine, Koffi Mesh Filter, or the control paper filter. Ideally you want your water to be just off the boil, around 93-96C. Using a thermometer or temperature-controlled kettle lets you set the temperature exactly, but if using a regular kettle, boil the water and open the lid for about 30 seconds to a minute to let it cool down before using. This makes it rather similar to a cup of French Press coffee. (See more on the best coffee beans for Aeropress here.)

Environment (Sustainability): Based on eco-friendliness, metal filters come out as the clear winners. Sure, paper filters can be composted—but how many of you living in a city find that practical? Additionally, many paper filters (like those included with the AeroPress) are bleached using chemicals. The grind of your coffee should be medium to coarse: make sure it is not too fine because this can get through the mesh filter of the cafetière.

Make two large or three small espresso style cups. Can also be used as a tea press or alternatively a serving jug, simply remove the plunger. 24oz / 680ml capacity. Since 2005, there have been 8 versions of the Aeropress made, so paper filters might be more compatible with all 8 designs, as opposed to metal filters that are more rigid in size. They’re theoretically indestructible, and can even be rolled or folded, though it’s not recommended. As a downside, however, it’s one of the more expensive filters out there, and it requires regular cleaning for proper performance.

While all metal and fabric filters can be considered Ecological because they’re reusable, but there are some paper filters that are fairly good for the environment as well. These filters are engineered to let every drop of coffee oil through, without letting any of the grounds through. However, cloth ones require the most cleaning of all three types of AeroPress filters. So if ease of cleaning is your priority, you can just skip the AeroPress cloth filter.

However, the resulting brew is definitely not as full-bodied as the other types of AeroPress filters. Like the AMEUUS filter, they’re engineered to let through maximum coffee oil, and little to no coffee sediment. It’s been rated by some coffee aficionados as the Best Value metal coffee filter for the Aeropress. In contrast to the 'Fine' disc and the Aeropress own-brand version, the Concetto Superfine disc is specifically suited to making a longer 200 ml drink, and as a good starting point I would recommend the second recipe below (it's a nice way to highlight our other current Colombian coffee, San Sebastian. It's a much gentler hit than the face-melter above, but has delicious tangerine flavour, delicate acidity and a chocolatey sweetness). With this technique you are swapping out the paper filter for a metal version, but not having to adapt your usual Aeropress technique too much in doing so. You do, however, have to use the 'inverted' method described above. The result will be a different experience, giving a more full-bodied drink with wilder flavours than the paper allows, but sacrificing the 'clarity' that many coffee lovers crave. It might blow you away and you'll never use another paper filter again, or you might find that it's an alternative take that complements the brews you are used to. Either way, I still like the idea of making lots of tiny, sustainable changes that might accumulate into something more meaningful.
