About this deal

Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.

In several essays now, Grant has engaged with the ideas of mostly Western philosophers and several conservative thinkers to explain the crisis of liberalism and democracy. Grant argues that, like other -isms, liberalism and democracy have descended into tyranny and terror. Photography, Goldin says in this documentary, was a “way to walk through the fear.” It was also “better than sex,” she later recalls. This may explain why, once she moved to New York, her pictures became explicitly erotic and often deeply, quietly sad. And the Nephites would not suffer that they should be destroyed; therefore they gave them lands for their inheritance. Therefore, he divided his army and brought a part over into the valley, and aconcealed them on the east, and on the south of the hill Riplah; I am not a fan of some of the sound effects added, it just made it feel a little old school 'radio' storytime.

About the Project

And the work of death commenced on both sides, but it was more dreadful on the part of the Lamanites, for their anakedness was exposed to the heavy blows of the Nephites with their swords and their cimeters, which brought death almost at every stroke. The spicy scenes were pretty hot, however the voice acting of these narrators was a bit cringy and overdramatized for me to say the least. Damiens voice was sexy sometimes, but it just got weird with these long, slow, drawn out sentences and words. It just didn't sound natural. Micah's voice was the only one that sounded authentic. Also, it threw me off with the female narrator narrating male character voices, especially when there were 3 male narrators that could have done it instead. Grant has worked as a journalist in Australia for more than three decades: first on commercial current affairs – and until this week, as a main anchor at the ABC, where he was an international affairs analyst and the host of the panel discussion show Q+A. The former role reflects his global work, reporting from conflict zones with esteemed international broadcasters such as CNN. His second book, Talking to my Country, won the Walkley Book Award in 2016. And the people of Ammon did give unto the Nephites a large portion of their substance to asupport their armies; and thus the Nephites were compelled, alone, to withstand against the Lamanites, who were a compound of Laman and Lemuel, and the sons of Ishmael, and all those who had dissented from the Nephites, who were Amalekites and Zoramites, and the bdescendants of the priests of Noah.

The film does not sanitize the milieu from which these pictures were borne. Goldin lucidly speaks about the dangers of sex work, which she herself undertook. She performed as a go-go dancer in New Jersey, and later became what she calls the “dominatrix” of Tin Pan Alley, a female-run bar that drew an unlikely clientele of leftists, art-world types, queer people, and IRS workers. Goldin also reports that there was violence at home, courtesy of her partner at the time, Brian, who physically abused her. There’s a photograph of Goldin gazing into the camera’s lens, with one of her eyes bloodied, its lid the color of an eggplant; the image lingers with you. Five words: The Part About the Crimes. Okay, a few more: the Part About the Crimes is the gruesome heart of 2666, the outpouring of blood without which none of the rest would exist. It recounts the individual murders of 112 women in Santa Teresa over the course of only a few years. It is fairly difficult to get through, which, I suppose, is part of the point. These claims are either obnoxious or nonsense or both. Most people who are killed by guns kill themselves; you are more likely to be killed by a gun if you have a gun; and you are most likely to be shot by someone you know. In short, if guns really made you safer then America would be the safest place on Earth. It’s not. According to the Centers for Disease Control, in 2013 seven kids and teens were shot dead every day; in 2020, the last year for which figures are available, it was 12. And again, the Lord has said that: Ye shall adefend your families even unto bbloodshed. Therefore for this cause were the Nephites contending with the Lamanites, to defend themselves, and their families, and their lands, their country, and their rights, and their religion. He asks “how do we live with the weight of this history?” And he explains the questions that have dominated his thinking: what is whiteness, and what is it to live with catastrophe? The death of the white queen And now the design of the Nephites was to support their lands, and their houses, and their awives, and their children, that they might preserve them from the hands of their enemies; and also that they might preserve their brights and their privileges, yea, and also their cliberty, that they might worship God according to their desires. Honestly I enjoyed this. I was uneasy per se, it's 3AM, I was in bed and in the mood for reading something like....this. The mood was set and it was literally calling to me. I kept wondering what is Raven’s full potential? Is there more to Raven than meets the eye? I can’t wait to read the next book Year Two in the Bloodshed Academy series. Year One is a great start to a fantastic new series one in which I am anxiously awaiting more of. Now in this case the Lamanites did fight exceedingly; yea, never had the Lamanites been known to fight with such exceedingly great strength and courage, no, not even from the beginning.
