The Garmin Approach S62 is a top-end golf watch that makes tracking your game easier than ever
Perhaps the biggest advantage with touchscreen is the ability to drag the pointer to any location on the hole display to see the yardage. This is helpful in situations where you’re looking to lay up and need to know which iron to use to leave you with your preferred distance in to the green. This feature is also invaluable when you can’t see the green and may be hitting a blind shot in over trees for example. As a lead-on point, we should mention that wind speed and wind direction monitoring is a completely new feature of the S62. To use it, you’ll need to open the app and have a stable internet connection. Heart Rate Monitoring A new barometer sensor in the watch considers temperature and altitude, providing even more accurate yardage and driving accuracy. When the watch is paired with your smartphone it will take into account wind conditions when suggesting a club. There’s even a ‘Plays Like’ feature which factors in slope and elevation. Impressive, right? The Garmin S70 is a high end golf watch designed to elevate your game with its advanced features and intuitive interface. It comes with a 1.2″ or 1.4″ AMOLED display, offering crisp contrast and vibrant colors that enhance your golfing experience.
They corrected this mistake with the S62 by doubling the S60’s battery life to give buyers 20 hours of operation. More than enough for any player. They also increased the watch mode’s battery life to 14 days which is another great change. Daily Smart Features As far as golf watches go, the Garmin Approach S62 is certainly at the more expensive end of the market. You can get a cheaper watch that will get you around the course just fine and do most of the things you need it to do, but the S62 goes that extra mile and does things you didn’t realise you needed until it showed you. We’re not actually a fan of manual club logging on the watch. It takes attention away from the round, your buddies and the beautiful scenery, and onto fiddling with the watch. For us, that’s not what a golf watch is about. It’s a personal choice though, and for many it's a useful feature to have on board.

The Garmin S60 Approach has long stood as the king of Garmin golf smartwatches, but upon the release of its successor, the Garmin S62, it may just well have been dethroned. Yet while it brings about numerous upgrades, it costs a lot more. So is the hefty price jump worth it? Especially for those who already own a Garmin S60. The Approach S62 is for golfers at varying levels, helping beginners with guidance on the course, but also helping more seasoned playing find areas they can improve performance. The Garmin S62 has a 5 ATM waterproof rating. This means it can withstand depths of 50 m, more than enough for the average user. Is the Garmin S60 Tournament Legal? The battery life is impressive and you can get 20 hours playing time per full charge, and a whopping 14 days if the GPS is not switched on. Garmin S62 Review: Verdict The Approach S60 (the predecessor to the S62) is an excellent cheaper alternative and offers many (but not all) of the on course functions you get with the S62. If the S62 is a little out of your budget then the S60 is a fine option in its own right and if you already have the S60 then you probably won't need to upgrade.

The AMOLED screen is a nice feature that other companies are still working on. This is pretty much our fault. But you have to be prepared to fuss over data either on course or straight after to really get the most out of the app. The Garmin S70 comes in an extra 42 mm screen size, which appeals to female golfers and those with a smaller wrist size. This was one of my complains about the S62. It was a premium watch that was only available to a subset of golfers. As you can see from the data, these watches share identical specs. That’s because the only difference between Garmin S60 and S62 is that the S60 Premium has an improved watch band and bezel.
