The only problem is Major League Baseball player Marcus Dillinger, the man she never meant to fall in love with. Neither Marcus nor Mary Catherine’s other friends—Tyler Ames and Sami Dawson—know just how serious her heart condition is. I had an encounter with an angel, October 1994. I was living in Hawaii, and I had a seizure at a stop light causing my car to stall, a woman showed up at my car door, she had called 911 and waited until the medical team arrived, and then she was gone. The EMT's tried to find her and she was no where to be found. I know that she was an angel who was sent to care for me that day.Though it was claimed that “the angels had done everything right,” their actions made me uncomfortable. One let the air out of a car’s tires, and a pair of others flagged down a pilot to halt a flight from taking off. Those actions (and others) felt too controlling, too manipulative of the human realm, especially considering that God grants humans the right to choose their own path in life. Chasing Sunsets opens with an angels meeting in Heaven. This image is what has stayed with me from the first book in the series. I absolutely love the image of God's helpers joining together to watch over and help us! This time they are together to protect and guide Mary Catherine and Marcus.

Just like that he went from a nobody in the world of baseball to being someone that was celebrated. His name was on everyone’s lips and they all came out to see Tyler Ames play. Angel clouds may look like an angel, or be in the form of another symbol that has meaning and significance for you. Karen Kingsbury writes her version on Frank Perretti! That is how I would sum up this book. There was a lot or Realism here which I so appreciated. It tells of the raw realities that teens have to face and the thin veil of how God tries to work within our own will. Another undeniable sign of angels is when you physically feel as though your hair is being lightly brushed or you feel a light and gentle brush of something along your arm and yet when you look, there's nothing there. With this sign, you may have the distinct sensation that a loving being takes your hand and yet of course you understand that no one is physically there. This often happens in situations where your angels really want to alert you to their presence, or when they actually want to send blessing of angel energy and peace to you through touch. Even Satan recognized the presence and power of angels within the life of Jesus. In a sense, he dared Jesus to summon “the guard” of angels with the hope it would diminish the perfection of the sacrificial offering. Notice that Jesus did not request the angels to intervene but did not negate the truth of the power and presence of angels either.Kingsbury always knows how to keep a plot moving, so that wasn't an issue with this book. I think the problem for me was the characters, in particular Mary Katherine. I just felt like she was being ridiculous. She was creating her own problems and drama in this book by not just telling people about her health problems, and it made me mad that she kept leading Marcus on only to push him away. It was under the guise of being selfless, because she didn't want him to love her if she was going to die, but I really think she was just being selfish. He deserved to know the truth and make his own decision. Her unrealistic medical expectations (i.e.. "My doctors tell me to be careful with adrenaline because of my heart, but I'm going to skydive and swim with sharks and nothing bad will ever happen to me" - okay, she didn't say that, but it seemed to be her attitude), and her harping on natural eating (so adrenaline won't have an affect on your heart, but sugar will?) just overall annoyed me. Not to mention that her attitudes about these different things seemed conflicting. I just didn't understand her, she didn't seem like she could be a real person to me, so I had a hard time relating to her as a character. SINCE HIS FOURTH BIRTHDAY, Tyler Ames had logged nearly twenty thousand hours training and practicing and preparing for the game of baseball. Two decades of wins and losses, warm-ups and strikeouts, game after game after game. But there was one thing Tyler had never accomplished. A series of small miracles leads Tyler to a maintenance job at a retirement home and a friendship with Virginia Hutcheson, an elderly woman with Alzheimer’s, who strangely might have the answers he so desperately seeks. Next he called for a curveball. Atta boy, William. Perfect pitch. Tyler gave the slightest nod. This was it. A curveball would sail straight toward the plate and break hard to the inside. By then the batter would bite, and the swing would be a strike. How did Tyler’s miracle turn out differently from what he had hoped and expected? Talk about a time when you received a different result or answer than you had hoped or prayed for.
