About this deal

The Switch is one of Nintendo's most successful and influential systems ever. There’s something unique about carrying a home console-quality gaming device everywhere you go. Figuring out what to play, though—that's getting harder every year, as the roster of first-party and indie games grows deeper and deeper. The last WWE title to land on Nintendo Switch was WWE 2K Battlegrounds, but that abandoned the simulation formula we've seen over the years in favor of an arcade aesthetic and gameplay style.

It’s a bit hard to tell who the cover star is as you can’t actually see him, but John Cena is front and centre for WWE 2K23. The man has a hall-of-fame-worthy career and boasts a couple of WWE game covers already, so to us, it makes sense to put the legend on it this time. The fact that the showcase mode pays homage to his illustrious career is just the cherry on top. Once you’ve maxed out the meter fully, you can then hit your signature move and win the match. This makes the game feel a lot more authentic, as in a real wrestling match, both competitors will start off slower with the aim being to build the match up to a big finish at the end.The core gameplay is pretty fun, but I agree the grind isn't fair, the campaign mode is just stupid and lazy and I feel they could have added more match types. Surely, an over the top arcade style wrestling game would benefit from matches like TLC, Hell in a Cell, Elimination Chamber etc? Hopefully they work on the game post-launch and refine the gameplay and adjust the reward amount given for actions. You might be wondering where other WWE 2K titles are, but in all honesty, they have all transitioned horribly to the Nintendo Switch, with countless bugs and frame rate problems, so we don’t advise paying to play any of them.

That being said, seeing as it is the exact same game that you could play for pennies in arcades, younger fans of the genre may want to stay away, as it might not be the best fit. Since this is an upgraded port of a Wii U game, Nintendo also included an extra game called Bowser's Fury, which plays more like a traditional 3D Mario title where you have to work with Bowser Jr. (Player 2 can control him!) to find cat shines on a series of islands to save them from a massive, Godzilla-sized Bowser. It's different, but also a ton of fun in its own way. Overall, RetroMania is a brilliant representation of the wrestling game genre and is well worthy of a spot on our list of the best wrestling games on the Nintendo Switch. BIG BANG PRO WRESTLING Genre

Is WWE 2K23 coming to Nintendo Switch?

There's a ray of optimism here, as we've seen a few signs that a WWE 2K22 on Switch release isn't completely out of the question. Make WWE 2K Battlegrounds your own with tons of customizable parts as you create, customize, and edit your own original created characters and Battlegrounds! With it being 8-bit, it doesn’t boast the most extravagant gameplay, as you’d imagine. You’re fairly limited to strikes and basic grapples, but you are able to run around and bounce off the ropes to add some power to your clotheslines.

But wait, if you think it is not possible for WWE 2k22 to release on the switch, then you might be wrong. Here’s the truth, there is still hope that developers can consider this on Switch. Will WWE 2k22 Release on Switch? It’s a little disappointing that each fighting style has the same moves, regardless of which wrestler you’re playing as, but this game is a much more casual experience than others we’ve mentioned, so for what it is, it’s fine.

Fans of the original game will be happy to know that RetroMania still has its arcade-like charm despite being released 30 years after Wrestlefest, with the 16 playable characters being a mix of old and new stars from all walks of the Wrestling world. The Legacy Edition just works the same features as the normal game, but with some limitations, or say heavily-reduced edition for WWE 2k22. The game itself is so heavy, full of animations and other stuff. So, if you noticed after the 2k18 was released on all the platforms except on switch, the developers considered that and made that available in the next two months, after the release for all the platforms. Overall though, I'm so over the simulation 2K wrestling games. 2K14 (THQ's last game before 2K took over) is the last wrestling game I actually enjoyed. I actually enjoy Battlegrounds far more than any of the games from 2K15 onwards.Wage war in a wide variety of your favourite match types with fun, new twists, including Steel Cage, Royal Rumble, Fatal Four Way and the all-new Battlegrounds Challenge!
