About this deal

This story is about Diana Casillas, a twenty nine year old woman, doing her best to raise two boys who lost their father. When she moves into her new house she starts to get to know her neighbors while traversing the waters of raising the two boys as they are getting older. She is trying to do her best, yet she can’t help feeling like it is not enough. Perhaps the change of scenery will prove to help their family cope with loss and maybe even lead to something more with the support she finds in others. Amy– My favorite is Louie and Dallas. I love that this big hulking man came into this little boy’s life and was just there for him. He felt left out by his brothers and friends and Dallas went and grabbed his XBox to play with him. I loved the part in the book when Diana walks in to see Louie sitting on a sleeping Dallas to play his game! I don’t want to ruin the book for anyone but at the end it just melts my heart! Diana Casillas, homeowner. It was about time. I had been more than ready to get out of the two-bedroom apartment the boys and I had been holed up in for the last two years. Claire– There were so many great dynamics in this book that it is hard to choose one. While I enjoyed the relationship Diana had with her nephews, I also enjoyed her banter with Miss Pearl and the cheeky flirtations between her and Trip. Still, Diana’s relationship with Dallas was my favorite. As mentioned, their story was a very slow progression to shared feelings. The pair have a little bit of a rough start as Dallas misinterprets Diana’s natural friendliness as her coming on to him. He is in the middle of a divorce and refuses to date until he is officially single. The pair eventually sort out the miscommunication and agree to be friends due to their proximity as neighbor’s and Dallas being Josh’s coach and cousin of Diana’s boss. They get to know each other, slowly, and their lives become virtually entwined. While there were some elements of their romance that had me cringing, I was totally engrossed in his affection for Diana as a friend and lover and her acceptance of someone who is good for her and vise versa.

I have a favorite that was emotional and beautiful, but don't want to spoil it. There are so many Fantastic moments, all heartfelt and showcases parenthood, relationships, friendships, and starting over in a masterful and real way. I didn’t mind how slow it was or that the main characters had a few interactions in the beginning of the book, that I wasn’t sure that the hero IS “the hero”. I still enjoyed it. I just loved seeing those characters’ day to day life. I enjoyed being a nosy invisible neighbour whose watching every detail of their life. I cried with Diane when she broke down from dealing with cruel words. I felt her pain, grief, and insecurities in that moment and empathized with he need to be the bigger, and better person for her kids, and the fear she felt about how she formed them as people. Completely relatable and real. Thanks for reading. Comment below if you have read Wait For It by author Mariana Zapata or if you are going to put it on your TBR! Diana, Josh and Louie have just moved to a new neighbourhood. While settling in is always hard, changing work locations at the same time is even harder. On top of that, keeping ten and five-year-old boys occupied is a never-ending job especially when there are sports involved. Josh, the ten-year-old is a baseball player and he’s pretty good too. Diana is busy and hasn’t had an opportunity to find him a new team to play with. It just so happens that after an extremely weird situation happens, she comes face to face with the coach for the local team.Synopsis: “Twenty-six-year-old Gaby Barreto might be a lot of things (loyal, sarcastic, one of the guys and a pain in the butt depending on which family member you ask), but dumb isn’t one of them. When her twin brother invites her to go on tour as his band’s merch girl, she isn’t exactly screaming at the top of her lungs with joy. But you know what? We don’t know either way. ‘Cause we’re only seeing life (and him) through HER eyes. And his attitude is true. His brusque persona is WHO we get, because for the most part? It IS who he is. And for a good reason. And especially if you loved the book The Wall of Winnipeg and Me because you see Van and Aiden again and its a really big moment for them that you are gonna wanna see. When his new neighbour hits the street Dallas is a wee bit weary of getting too close to the single mother...been there, done that. But, there’s just something about Diana that makes Dallas want what she openly shares with others. He wants the smiles, cuddles and affection for himself but has to make sure he's ready for her. Diana is the aunt to 2 boys that were otherwise orphaned from her brother dying. She is in her late 20's and going through IT. Diana just wants to be a good parent to these boys and a good daughter to her overly protective parents and a good employee but most of all a good person. I freakin love a strong female lead and Diana was awesome. She's of Mexican decent and while she is more "Americanized" and liberal, her parents are such stereotypical Mexican Catholics that it added a level of familial humor that I just loved. It made this story fun and realistic. We don't stop trying to please our parents as adults and Diana was in an especially precarious situation raising her brothers children.

So… Diana has just moved into the neighborhood and bought herself a sweet little house in a quiet neighborhood for her and her two very young nephews, that she is now parenting. But Sir Handyman convinced me to lessen the mean and get one that says the ever cliche "Wipe Your Paws" at our new digs. i dont uNdErStAnD parents or parental figures in books who feel the need to teach their kids compassion and encourage them to help others in need..... but then proceed to walk into a 🔥burning building🔥 to rescue a KITTEN and risk having their kids be parent-less. i mean, i’ve never had a pet, so i cant really relate to it to begin with, but— I’m glued to this book and have dropped the other ones I was reading till I’m done with this one. So far I highly recommend it to anyone who liked Kulti or WoW or who appreciates slow burn and well-written characters with integrity. They were my boys. Maybe they hadn’t come straight from my body, but they were as mine as they could get. Plus, what did it matter if he thought I was a single mom? I was a single aunt. A single guardian. That was basically the same thing. A small-fingered hand landed on my leg over the sheets. “I can’t sleep,” the little boy admitted, still whispering like he was trying not to wake me up even more than he already had by scaring the Holy Spirit and a couple drops of pee out of me. The darkness in the room hid Louie’s blond hair and those blue eyes that still made my heart ache every so often. “There’s alotta noise outside. Can I sleep with you?”
