About this deal

Q4 All Purpose Plant Food contains vital plant foods and trace elements that are essential for the growth of flowers and crops. One thing it cannot replace is phosphorous that is required for root growth. The problem is that this general purpose fertiliser does not have enough phosphorus in the form of phosphate to aid these plants. It will help but you need more to grow your carrots and parsnips. This will translate to a nitrogen: phosphorous: potassium (NPK) ratio of 5.3:3.3:8.3. This can be seen as a high potassium fertiliser and therefore suitable for flowering and fruiting plants. To be truthful as said earlier, the amount of phosphorous is a bit low but this can be supplement by adding superphosphates in the mix or by using liquid fertilisers.

As well as using Q4 Pelleted Fertiliser for flowers and vegetables, it is also ideal for fruit, tomatoes and chrysanthemums. Q4 Pelleted Fertiliser can also be used on lawns prior to seed sowing or laying turf. Use 140 g/m2 (4 oz/sq yd) before sowing and planting, or for established plants as an annual dressing in the spring. Chrysanthemums: Apply 200 g/m2 (6 oz/sq yd) before planting in soil. Q4 Plus Fertiliser can also be used as a top-dressing for vegetables and should be applied twice during the summer months. For deliveries the size of ours, this just doesn't make sense for us or for our international customers, and so we have made the difficult - but necessary - decision to stop selling our plants internationally. We do very much hope that this will be a temporary measure and look forward to resuming trading internationally in the future. Delivery InformationApply 200 g/m2 (6 oz/sq yd) before planting in soil. Spread 35 g/m2 (1 oz/sq yd) as a regular feed at 3-4 week intervals. Easy-to-use, apply Q4 Plus Fertiliser when soil is moist and lightly hoe into the top surface of the soil. If using in dry conditions ensure it is watered in. I have used Q4 for a while in my garden and my containers with great success. What is good about the fertilizer is that you do not need to add a lot, especially in containers. You can mix it with compost before planting and/or you can use it as a top dressing. It can replace the role of many fertilisers; growmore and/or fish, blood and bone can be replaced as it fills the same function. It can replace rose and shrub food for these plants, as it has the NPK that plants need and also the magnesium that roses need. For ericaceous plants, we would recommend using Vitax's Azalea and Rhododendren or Conifer and Shrub fertilisers.

As plants start into growth, after the dormancy of winter, it’s time to think about feeding to get the best results from your garden in the coming season. Winter rainfall (we’ve certainly had our fair share of that in the UK) washes soluble nutrients from the soil which can leave them in short supply for plants at a critical time. Insufficient nutrients mean slower, weaker, growth which can result in disease and fewer flowers. You will undoubtedly be planting some new shrubs and perennials too; these need the right nutrients in the soil to get them going, so using the best fertiliser at the time of planting is important. Originally developed for the commercial grower, Q4 Fertiliser is the trusted choice for producing bigger, brighter blooms and bumper crops. Of course all solid fertilisers need to break down in the soil to release their nutrients; organic fertilisers do that slowly. So what if you want to supply readily available nutrients to your plants to get them going and give them a real boost? Some plants, such as tomatoes, are greedy feeders and need topping up with nutrients throughout the season. In these instances you use liquid fertilisers: ones that you dilute in water and apply. The nutrients are in solution and are therefore readily available to the plants. For fruit trees and soft fruit apply the product before planting and by applying a top dressing in early spring for established plants. For currants, gooseberries, raspberries and other cane fruits apply 140 grams per square metre. For strawberry apply 70 to 100 grams per square metre. It can be rather dusty, despite what the manufacturer may say. You need to apply it on still days as it can irritate your eyes and throat. Tomatoes: 200g per sq.m (Before planting in the soil). Spread 35g per sq.m as a regular feed at 3-4 week intervals. As a gardener, you get to the point where you have tried many things and you still are not getting the results. You look to what commercial growers and professional gardeners use in growing their crops and plants and in trying to replicate the results you often see on the TV. It is the organic nutrients and trace elements within Q4 Plus Fertiliser that help to promote vigorous plant growth, abundant flowering and ripening of fruit.

Q4 Pelleted Fertiliser: Apply throughout the growing season Contains vital plant foods and trace elements essential for abundant growth of flowers and crops An easy to handle, low dust, pelleted fertiliser. For best results apply evenly to soil, preferably when it is wet. Q4 Fertiliser is perfect for roses either prior to planting out or for established bushes when it can be applied as a top dressing in the spring. I also use Vitax Q4 professional to add to growing media that I’ve used for growing bulbs. When I remove the bulbs from pots in spring I tip the growing medium into a barrow, add a few handfuls of Vitax Q4 professional and mix it up. I use this for potting seasonal bedding plants or even longer term subjects in containers. Vitax Q4 professional is not always recommended for use in pots, mainly because you can overdo it. Personally I do use it as a top dressing on permanently potted subjects – just a handful and then top up with some fresh growing medium. This product was originally developed for commercial growers. Q4 All Purpose Plant Food produces bigger, brighter blooms and bumper sized crops. One large 10kg tub can fertiliser up to 40 square metres of land, so if you have plenty of land, you may need to buy more. Natural, organic and sustainable, Q4 Plus Fertiliser contains mycorrhizal fungi, helpful bacteria and a range of biostimulants to encourage rapid root growth and early establishment. It can replace the need for sulfate of ammonia for leafy crops and those plants who need a high nitrogen supply. It can replace the need for sulfate of potassium used to produce bigger blooms and more fruit, and it has enough iron via sulphate of iron to help ericaceous plants. You can say it is a general-purpose fertiliser that has good multitude uses in the garden including containers. Fertilisers and plant food are commonly used to improve plant growth both indoors and outdoors. There are products that are designed to be used around the garden, while others target indoor plants. Even if your soil is already healthy, fertilisers and plant food can still help you to achieve bigger and larger displays of blooms. Plus, if you’re growing edible crops, they can help to boost their yield. For roses apply 140 grams per square metre before planting or give an annual dressing for established bushes.

Vitax Q4+ is a progression from the original fertiliser. This contains mycorrhizal fungi and is ideal when planting. These fungi develop into a mycelium which forms an association with the plant’s roots increasing the roots’ ability to absorb water and nutrients, so aiding establishment. Vitax Q4+ can also be used in growing media to promote strong root growth and development. Q4 Pelleted Fertiliser should be applied to the growing media before sowing and planting flowers and vegetables. It can then be used as a top dressing once or twice during the summer months to encourage crops. It will ensure that the plants are healthier, the leaves and shoots are greener, the flowers vibrant and the fruits abundant. If applying Q4 Plus Fertiliser to containers or bare rooted plants, sprinkle the fertiliser into the bottom of the planting hole and lightly fork in. Mix the rest with the fill-in soil and firm in the plant. It is recommended that you apply it evenly at the roots below, preferable when the soil or compost is moist. Once applied, you will need to lightly hoe the produce onto the surface and if it is dry to water it in. On shrubs and roses to produce more flowers and healthier leaves, vegetables to produce bigger crops, and on lawns to make them greener and healthier. In conifers, it can be used to produce healthier leaves. It contains a mixture of 5.3% nitrogen, 7.5% of phosphorous pentoxide of which 6.8% is soluble in water, 10.0% potassium oxide, 3.0% magnesium oxide, 0.3% boron, 0.025% copper and 0.2% iron.
