About this deal

It’s never been easier to start growing your own tomatoes with our Tomato Growing Kit. A real treat for have-a-go gardeners and those keen to grow their own veg, this deluxe kit contains the essentials you need to grow a bumper crop of tomatoes from seed to harvest – all you need is seeds and compost! Suttons strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3. If using a plant halo, water only the inner pot for the first two weeks and once the plants become established and start to grow, then water into the outer ring where the holes are and the water will seep directly to the roots. The other great thing about plant halos is that, if you go away for a few days, you can fill the reservoir with water right to the top and it will then take a couple of days for the water to seep into the grow bag so you don’t have to worry about your plants drying out! Water your plants well to settle the soil. One of the benefits of using a plant halo or pot is that when you water the plant, water doesn’t run off the surface of the compost or flood the grow bag.

The central inner pot creates the planting area which is particularly useful when used with grow bags. It allows a deeper planting zone to develop healthier plants. A 2.8 litre outer ‘moat’ features eight 3cm watering spikes. These penetrate below the surface, delivering water direct to the plant’s roots. Water and liquid feed deliver at a reduced rate that the plant is better able to absorb, preventing wastage which is common with conventional watering. Incredibly simple yet stunningly effective, each tomato plant halo is pushed into a planting hole cut in the plastic skin of a grow bag and features a watering moat around the outside of the central planting hole; just top this outer ring up with water, apply liquid feed to the centre hole and the two sets of roots which develop - water and feed searching - will do the rest! Six hollow plastic spikes reach down into the grow bag soil and send the 3 litres of water the moat can hold right where it's required, taking 3-5 hours to empty the reservoir. Our new and unique Plant Halos offer an 'all in one' watering and crop support solution for popular crops such as tomatoes, peppers and beans. Sold in sets of 3, Plant Halos can be used on grow bags, pots (with a diameter of 26cm and above), raised beds, as well on traditional vegetable plots. The central inner pot creates the planting area which is particularly useful when used with grow bags as it allows a deeper planting zone to develop healthier plants. A 3.1 Litre outer 'moat' features six 2.8cm watering spikes which penetrate below the surface, delivering water direct to the plant's roots. This ensures that water and liquid feed are delivered at a reduced rate that the plant is better able to absorb, preventing wastage which is common with conventional watering. It typically takes between 3 and 6 hours for the water reservoir to drain fully, depending on the weather and soil conditions. Plant Halos also feature a unique cane support system. 3 anchor slots surround the inner pot and provide the means for a rigid, wind resistant structure using bamboo cane (not included). A cane grip cap (see photo below) is also included and allows for up to 4 canes to be joined at the peak of the resulting structure. The cane grip cap is simply separated from the main moulding by the user. Plant Halos are manufactured from recycled, UV stabilised plastic and are guaranteed for 5 years. We offer two colour alternatives - classic green or tomato red. Can be used on grow bags, pots (with a diameter of 26cm and above), raised beds and vegetable plots.

Add some potting compost to the new container. Place an empty pot the same size as the original one into the middle of the container then continue to fill around it. Remove the pot to leave a ready-made hole. Take your plant out of its old pot, tease out the roots if necessary, then plant into position. Firm it in and water it. 3. Build a Bug Hotel Potassium (K): An essential nutrient that is important for plants that produce flowers or fruits. Allows for larger fruits and longer blooms. We grew some plants (we chose ‘Cherokee Purple’) with the products and some without. No special care was given to any plant, and we used the products the way they were intended. We evaluated these items on the only criteria that really matter: How many fruit resulted, and how big were they? Season Extenders

You can also reuse old plastic pots to help water other thirsty plants such as squash. In this case there’s no need to cut off the bottom. Just dig a hole next to the plant for your pot reservoir. Bury the pot almost up to the rim, then fill with water. The water will gradually seep out into the root zone of the plant, right where it’s needed. 2. Use a Pot as a Planting Guide

The central planting area is particularly useful when used with grow bags as it allows a deeper planting zone to develop healthier plants. The central inner pot creates the planting area. This is particularly useful when used with grow bags because it allows for a deeper planting zone. Therefore, it will develop healthier plants. The pot has a 3.1 litre outer ‘moat’ which features six 2.8cm watering spikes. These spikes penetrate below the surface to deliver water straight to the plant’s roots. Therefore, water and liquid feed are delivered at a reduced rate and are better absorbed by the plant. As a result, water wastage is prevented – something which is common with conventional watering. It typically takes between 3 and 6 hours for the water reservoir to drain fully, depending on the weather and soil conditions. Our Plant Halos stimulate rapid root growth for healthier plants.
