About this deal

The Grandmother aka Puppet Master who not only directs which heroine hooks up with what hero, but makes outrageous demands…more later on her. Despite how everyone adores her, her demands may make her the most villainous of all. Push/Pull: Yes the h pushes away a good bit and I'd say the H is the main pursuer of the relationship I’m also not convinced that ‘he loved her all along’ line. That was too unbelievable with all the ‘Hannah Hannah’ chanting. Like when has it always been her exactly ??when you were in love with her sister ? or you and you were having loud sex with her sister WHEN SHE WAS THE NEXT ROOM or when you didn't want to marry her? or when you apologize to her sister for marrying her ? Make ir make sense catharina maura There is so much ANGST in this book... like to the extreme that it's mentioned as a "trigger warning" at the start of the book. I am pretty sure this is one of the factors that influenced why I loved this so much as I could physically feel the tension and emotional baggage these characters have and seeing how they dealt with their soap opera ridiculous life was predictable but entertaining.

When he had to marry the heroine, he suffered, because of her sister, that she left him, but then abruptly fell out of love with her and realized that he had loved the heroine all this time. I can't stand such a hero, for me it's worse than non-compliance with celibacy! 😡The Bad: The drama was so OTT it was ridiculous. The h being a doormat and the H being so dang confusing. Then that scene when they are at her parents house and her sister is in the next room and she tells him that she’s heartbroken from all years of listening to him have sex with his sister next door so he proceeds to have loud, rough sex to one-up that past history? JUST NO. Listen, I love a well-done kinky scene (LOVE THEM) but this was not it. It felt cheap and degrading. Overall: This was a freaking mess! It started out alright but I honestly don't know how I finished it! It started going downhill and just kept on snowballing and getting so much worse! Cringey OTT drama and unlikeable characters = a 2 star read.

The thing that upset me a lot when this book came out was being lied to by the author. In an fb group, someone asked if there was owd and she said no… 😐 What a weak “hero”. 🙄 we are told that he loves the sister so much that the thought of marrying his best friend (her sister) is insane to him. Yet this is the same girl that he can’t stand to go without talking to and has sexy dreams about. Then without much of a fight on his part, they go through with the wedding and then like a week later he is confessing how much he loves her? Gag me.

I loved Ares family too. They were super supportive and loyal to Raven. Can’t wait to read their stories. Also immediately after they got married, Things were a mess. They would say one thing but do another and think another. Both of them got confused and then they started confusing ME!

HOOOOW is this no owd when it’s ALL about the owd 🥴 we might not SEE the ow/H sex scenes, but we hear about them 😐. Am I the only one who saw that the sister was a narcissist from like chapter 2? How did everyone else miss that? If she is really that great an actress why isn’t she winning more awards? 😂 every chapter was the exact same: raven (fmc) gets insecure about ares’ (mmc) past relationship with her sister. she voices her worries, they have a long talk, they sleep together. her sister shows up and flirts with ares, and she gets uncertain all over again. they have the same talk, they sleep together. repeat ten thousand times!!

The only good thing about this book was that Raven did not stay celibate and mop and wait around for him, and she was with other men, hence her being the other woman in Bittersweet Memories. Overall Pace of Story: Not the best. I skimmed a good bit for the last 1/4ish because it dragged and I no longer cared all that much.
