But in this case, I really did not mind. I got the read that I expected and don’t mean that in a bad way. But he seems to really need her and she has the opportunity to turn the tables and change their relationship. After all, he will likely believe everything she decides to tell him about their relationship.

The Mother-in-Law hooked me from the first chapter. It kept me motivated and I finished the book in one day. Domestic thrillers are my favorite and this one had outstanding head-scratching turns. Some may argue that the plot had a few tiny holes, but it did not interfere with my enjoyment of Karen King's work. I liked the novel and look forward to reading more from Karen King. Then I overhear an argument between her and Sam’s dad. Evelyn has a secret. And it changes everything I thought I knew about the family I’m marrying into. The commissioned work she did during that time paid the bills and she penned everything from plays, joke books picture books, early readers, and bits and bobs of non-fiction work.
