About this deal

No business is going to keep someone around just for showing up. You have to continually get ready. If the nose of a plane is pointed just one percent off course when it leaves LA for New York, it will end up in Delaware once it gets to the east coast.

You have to be willing to give 100 percent in your relationships. Always take 100 percent responsibility for everything that happens to you. Basically, if you've never read a self-help book before, you'll find a few good pointers here. There's a foreword by Tony Robbins, and to be honest, that is the only thing that keeps this book on the honest side of things. Without that foreword, this looks like copy/paste of someone taking one or two notes while listening to Tony's Personal Power II.Darren is also a highly sought-after keynote speaker, media contributor and the New York Times bestselling author of The Compound Effect and Living Your Best Year Ever and his The Entrepreneur Roller Coaster--Why Now is the Time to #JoinTheRide Commit to doing a relationship review each weekend. Cover what went well in your marriage that week. Rank your relationship on a scale of 1-10 over the last week and then ask what could get it to a 10.

The Compound Effect will help you beat the competition, rise above your challenges, and create the life you deserve!" In the above scenario, if you choose the 2nd option, you might not see any significant improvement in the first few weeks because the compound effect takes so much longer to see the payoff i.e., by day 31, you have more than three times than the 1st option has offered. Tony Robbins’ no man’s land concept is when you’re not really happy about your life, but you’re not unhappy enough to do anything about it. You want to avoid this complacency.

Your influence determines the majority of your success, so be careful who you allow to influence your life.

The hardest part of momentum is the beginning. But like pushing the merry-go-round on the playground… Once you get moving you can keep going very easily. What are you willing to tolerate? If you tolerate people being late that is what you’ll get. If you tolerate earning less than what you’re worth, that’s what you’ll earn. (This is similar to Mark Manson’s idea of “what kind of pain do you want?” Except here it is applied to the negative forces in our life whereas he applies it to our goals and ambitions.)Most importantly the Author has some very practical suggestions to implement good habits and get rid of bad ones. So if you want to lose weight, what many people do, is to buy an expensive gym membership, new gym clothes and shoes to exercise. They work out intensively for an hour a day for 7 days. Then they give up disappointed with the results. Instead the Author suggests that it is better to walk 10 minutes a day and slowly increase it till it becomes a habit like brushing your teeth. In this way you will have long lasting impact for your health. If I were only concerned with success and not at all concerned about being a decent human, I could probably agree with a lot of this book. The Author gives lots of examples like the one above. The plane analogy, the pump analogy and the steam engine analogy. The result after 2 and a half years: The third friend is now obese, has got health problems and loses his job and wife. The second friend remains the same and now is more bitter than before. The first friend remains trim, has a happy relationship with his wife and gets a job promotion. More than anything, The Compound Effect left me utterly sad to believe that so many would place personal gain over being kind and loving. Money won't cry at your funeral. Clients won't visit you in the hospital. Tombstones aren't marked with your social media ranking.

Find people in your life who will be honest enough to tell you the weaknesses and strengths they see if your life. If you do this, you are on your way to big growth.

Working...

I am already implementing his advice in my life and feel that in taking things slowly, I am able to adopt healthier long lasting habits.
