If it’s hard to remove these, you might need to press down on them to break any corrosion that might be holding them in place. Once you have them off, clean and replace them and then try to sound your horn again.

At first glance I noticed the air ports on the S horn were not covered and were exposed to the outside of the engine. I compared it to my HD horn and found the HD horn had a chrome metal housing covering the air ports. I went ahead with the installation thinking nothing more of it. On to my point. I heard your horn failed horn and recognized the problem right away since i have experienced that problem myself. Our Stebel Nautilus Compact was inoperative right out of the box, so Stebel has some work to do on the quality of these horns. Not recommended.

I’m not sure if we’ve ever given a product a “Not Recommended” rating, but what else can we do? The Stebel Nautilus “Max” shown here, which is supposedly rated at 139 dB, failed after only a few seconds of use, four beeps to be exact. For use off the road, there are a number of “funny” car horns that are available. Personally, the all time favorite and the best funny car horn has to be the Dixie horn, which is a car horn everyone loves. Stebels' Nautilus model is largely considered the ultimate upgrade for your existing horn setup. The single unit produces a reading of 110dB at two metres, at an earth quaking frequency of 300Hz. I think the keys — assuming that you don’t start out with a dead one — are to locate it in an area largely protected from the elements, make sure the horn or at least the trumpet openings are pointed down, and of course power it via a relay. I'm pretty sure that this is the way I wired my Stebel. To be on the safe side, test the circuits with a voltmeter.

We are un-able to offer free fitting with the sale of this product. This one never worked, and we’ve heard from other Stebel Nautilus owners who experienced similar problems. But the loudest motorcycle horn in the world is useless if it can’t be trusted, and based on our experience with the Stebel Nautilus horns, we’d rather take a few less dB but have something that’s going to work when needed. With the old horn removed, you can proceed to wiring and mounting the new horn in its place. As mentioned above, if there are any error codes, you can use a diagnostic tool to clear them from the dash. The easy installation and outstanding performance of this horn makes it a favourite of ours, being a perfect solution when replacing your T5 or T6 horns. The single unit means that the entire horn setup is relatively compact and suitable for many engine bars or grilles. If you are new to installing car horns, then don’t worry, it’s fairly easy to do. It’s more a matter of finding everything and connecting everything properly.
