About this deal

This is similar to the way the Astral Claws, Lamenters, Mantis Warriors, and Charnel Guard wore the unique marking of the Maelstrom Warders to designate their role as sentinels over the Warp rift known as the Maelstrom.

The homeworld of the Emperor's Spears is the Ocean World of Nemeton. Its landmasses are small and mountainous, and heavily forested. There are several equatorial landmasses that are largely marshy jungle. Due to the temperate weather, rainfall is constant across most of the surface. These are all pretty good! Sentinel of the Veil has real legs and can be a great secondary warlord trait on a smash Chaplain or something similar. Bloodied but Unbroken is neat but not particularly exciting. And Tribal Heritage has some potential, given that it lets you use Combat Revival or Commanding Oratory for free on an Apothecary (if you didn’t make him a Chief Apothecary, for some reason) or Chaplain, or throw out Only in Death Does Duty End to punish an opponent in a pinch. AD-B: For once, no. I wrote it specifically to need nothing else beforehand. If you follow 40K’s metaplot, you’ll be able to draw straight lines between what’s going on and why, but it should also work pretty smoothly if it’s someone’s first 40K novel. While Amadeus is nominally the main character, it’s told in first person through the eyes of Anuradha Daaz, one of three Mentor Legion helots tasked with supporting Amadeus both on the battlefield and off. She has a strange relationship with Amadeus and the Mentors, mixing professional respect with a degree of bitterness, but she recognises that her role within the Chapter allows her considerable privileges. It’s some of those privileges – a fiercely analytical mind, and technologically-enhanced recall – that facilitate her narration, and allow her to pose in-universe questions that we don’t often see in 40k stories. Filtered through the lens of her perspective the book offers a fascinating look at two very different Chapters of Space Marines in action, and the role that ‘normal’ humans play alongside them.Anuradha thinks she sees Incarius but instead to her horror discovers that she is facing one of the Pure - who wear almost the same colors as the Mentors! Of course, the symbol on the pauldron is different - it's a serpent circled around a world. Anuradha and Tyberia are equipped with shotguns with loads specifically designed to puncture power armor, they have vortex grenade launchers, iron bones, top quality cortical implants, blades, advanced carapace armor well above that of Scions, and more. The Marine they fight very nearly kills them both, tearing out Anuradha's advanced bionic eye for one. So with this delay, the Hex jumps to warp and catches up to the Venatrix almost immediately - too soon. Too late, the crew realizes that they were drawn into a trap when they hit some sort of warp mine. Great new novel from Aaron Dembski-Bowden chronicling the story of the Emperor's Spears, a Space Marine Chapter on the edge of destruction, last watchmen over the Elara's Veil nebula. Now, the decisions of one man, Amadeus Kaias Incarius of the Mentor Legion, will determine the Chapter's fate…

Each warhost marks their azure armour with a range of Nemetese Ogham runes that are believed to comprise a mix of unit markings, honor sigils and other more esoteric icons. Some veterans who fought alongside the lost Star Scorpions or the dying Celestial Lions bear icons of those Chapters in honour of fallen comrades-in-arms. Most warriors bear personal heraldry on one knee pad, which is painted in a deeper blue. This heraldry usually reflects a specific campaign the battle-brother fought in, or the Manticora Bestia Fidelitas, a sigil representing the unity of the Adeptus Vaelarii. The Skitarii of Bellona and allied Imperial Guard regiments often also bear this sigil. Many Emperor’s Spears wear cloaks made from the hides of beasts they have hunted and slain on Nemeton. [5] Officers known as Druids replace the usual Librarians, Chaplains, Techmarines and Apothecaries of normal Chapters. These warrior-priests each stand ready to harvest the gene-seed of fallen brothers, as well as performing their own duties based on their specialist skills and esoteric abilities. [5] Chapter Culture It’s called The Ashes of [Spoilers]. If you’ve read Spear of the Emperor, trust me, you can guess what ashes that title refers to. Hailing from the primitive world of Nemeton, the Spears continue to embrace the tribal nature of their Homeworlds. Several tribes on Nemeton exist, such as the Novontei, Kavalei, and Arakanii. These tribes each have their own unique traditions and customs, and even upon entrance into the Chapter the Spears continue to cling to their tribal identity. Spears often call each other simply by their tribe. [4d]The rules for Emperor’s Spears give us a new Chapter Tactic (well, kind of), three new Warlord Traits, two stratagems, and three relics. The Chapter Tactic: Redden the Earth High King Arucatas the Swordbearer - Arucatas of the Kavalei Tribe is the High King of Nemeton (essentially its Planetary Governor) and the Chapter Master of the Emperor's Spears Chapter. Since the opening of the Great Rift, the Emperor's Spears have been beset by new dangers. The Rift is visible from Nemeton, and its baleful influence has been felt across the Elara's Veil region. Hard pressed by constant war and isolation following the loss of their fellow Chapters, the Emperor's Spears now stand upon the brink of destruction, and it remains to be seen how its future will unfold... The Emperor's Spears benefit to the presence of the nearby Forge-Moon of Bellona, which allows their Druidic Techmarines to train there instead of Mars. Thanks to their pacts with Bellona, the Chapter is able to deploy a fleet far above that of most standard Chapters. In addition, many of their warships are guarded by Skitarii. However to other Imperials, the Chapter is unreliable and prone to put glory above prudence. Recent difficulties have forced the Emperor's Spears into being more cooperative with the greater Imperium. [4] Organization The Emperor's Spears often ally with the military forces of the Adeptus Mechanicus and Skitarii Legions of the Forge Moon of Bellona in their own star system and Imperial Knights from Raukama, a Knight World located in Elara's Veil.
