I'll be honest: I've never seen an episode of "The Office". So, I was curious about a story that started with, "On April 30, 2009, at roughly 9:02pm, my life changed forever. I became known as "the chili guy"." His anecdote about a rather messy scene in the "Casual Friday" episode of the series involves physical humor and definitely needs visuals to really tell the tale, so six photographs of 'the incident' are included. By the end of the story, I was laughing and groaning and most definitely got the joke.

The cookbook also includes beautiful photographs of most of the recipes, which makes it difficult to decide just which recipe to prepare. However there are enough recipes that anyone can have a different type of chili every day or two for several years. About 15 years ago, I was working in a governmental office in DC. Every year there was a chili cookoff fundraiser. And people working there took it SERIOUSLY! They guarded their chili recipe secrets more closely than the most top secret documents we worked with. They worked for days preparing their chili. And it was cutthroat! More than one friendship was threatened by being beat out by a friend. I never wanted to participate. It just was not my cup of tea. However, I was approached by my boss, and told that, to be a good team player, I should enter the competition. So I submitted to the peer pressure and threw my hat into the competition.
