About this deal

The wheels are 8.5 inches with puncture-proof solid tyres. The front wheel has an e-brake via the motor and there is also a disk brake in the rear wheel – this is reassuring! Riley claims the e-scooter can take a maximum load of 120kg before the performance starts to drop off.

READ NEXT: Are e-scooters legal in the UK? Riley RS1 electric scooter review: What you need to know The RS1’s bright blue cabling is a nice touch, matching the colour of the thumb throttle accelerator on the right of the handlebar and logo on the stem. The chunky, aluminium stem looks the part, too. It’s much broader than other e-scooters we’ve tested but it lends the RS1 a purposeful, robust look.

Before we go any further, it is important to clarify that electric scooters are classified as Personal Light Electric Vehicles (PLEVs) and therefore illegal to ride in the UK unless you’re riding on private land with the landowner’s permission. Offenders caught could be penalised and receive points on their driving licence. In contrast, e-scooters are legal in most European countries and US states. We recommend riders always wear a helmet and follow the manufacturer’s safety guidelines before riding. Although there are no specific laws in place, we also recommend riders wear a helmet and always follow the manufacturer’s safety guidelines. From a comfort point of view, the RS2’s 10in tyres do a good job over potholes, and I could swap terrains from pavements to grass and concrete easily without changing speed or losing control. Cruise control is another welcome addition, especially if you’re riding long distances. The handlebar ‘dashboard’ area is similarly clean and intuitive to use. The display unit at the top of the steering column shows your speed and battery life clearly. It also allows you to turn on the useful front and rear lights as well as to ring the bell! The motor on the E365 is 350W average power and the voltage is 42V as opposed to the typical 36V seen on most electric scooters in this range of operation. This gives it some decent pep but uplifts the weight to 13kg. This is a manageable weight but you can definitely feel it if you are lifting for more than a few minutes. Range is better than average for this price point at around 15-20 miles maximum depending on your weight.

Our electric scooters for kids are the perfect introduction to the world of scooters without compromising on safety. Offering a responsive throttle and breaks and enough speed for your kids to feel the thrill of our children’s electric scooter, hop on the Decathlon kiddies electric scooter for your young thrill seekers to get a taste of battery-powered fun outdoors. There are three power modes which can be set on the display so if you’re new to riding electric scooters you can start at the lowest (6mph max) and work your way up. It can be quite unnerving at first to have so much power at your disposable derived from so little expended effort. You soon get used to it though! Braking and Ride Quality Our adult electric scooters come in a wide variety of builds, whether you’re looking to stay economical for minimal use or looking to power up. You’ll find our power range boasting an additional suspension, larger or dual motors as well as more powerful brakes so you can ride through router terrain without worrying about the strength and stability of your adult electric scooter.

The problem with range on a scooter is that you need a big battery to provide it – the Xiaomi houses a whopping 13Ah battery (436 Watt hours) which means the total weight of the scooter tips the scales at 14.2kg. Not the lightest to carry around, but just about manageable. the battery comes with a two year warranty as well which provides peace of mind against degradation. Out of the box, not much needs doing to the Riley RS1; you will need a small hex key (supplied) to tighten the brake and you'll need to screw on the handlebars. It's a simple process and takes just a few minutes. Acceleration is brisk and almost silent. You can hear a slight electrical whirr of the motor, but it’s not intrusive. Soon you’re feeling the wind through your hair (or scalp in my case!). It’s a wonderful feeling. The big 10” tyres have excellent grip and I was never worried about slipping around corners, even in damp conditions.I've found that's enough for short commutes and other short local trips, although the battery level indicator seems very unreliable – it would vary wildly during a trip – sometimes going up and sometimes going down.
