About this deal

Then, fold from the edge, to the mid point, to the next edge. This is kind of confusing, but, basically you’re looking for a secondary midpoint; the midpoint between the edge of the curtain, and the midpoint between the edges. 10. Repeat steps 7 and 8 from each of these secondary midpoints. Now you are ready to connect your curtain rings! Then I let them hang over my dining room chairs for another day. And they GREW…..and they were WHITER!! But IKEA’s curtains are typically 98″ long (also too short for my dining and living room but long enough for the bedrooms), and they make a few styles in 118″ long. As you may know, IKEA’s curtains come un-hemmed. The raw edge is finished with the serger, and you can cut off and/or hem as needed to the right length. The next hook goes in at the other end. Insert the right most prong into the first available opening on the right. Repeat steps 3-4, but go to the left instead of the right.

Are pinch pleat curtains out of style? Pleated panels are a classic style of drapery and so never really go out of fashion, although their popularity rises and falls with current trends. They look quite formal, so work best with formal or traditional decorating styles. Pinch pleat is the most common style. What curtains to use with clips? RIKTIG hooks pictured below. The top of the pin would slip into the hoop on a curtain ring. I just wanted to show you in case you haven’t heard of them yet (see picture in curtain styles below). For my living room I knew that the trim is 95 1/2″H, and my curtain rod is 98 1/2″H (3 inches higher) because I was using curtains I already owned that were 98″L. Keeping your hand pinched on the mid point, count 4 to the left and right from the mid point; these are your openings for the two middle prongs. No need to worry! There is an easy fix. Just twist one part of the hook 90°. I used needle nose pliers, but I’m betting that someone with strong fingers (or teeth?!) could do this without tools. Also consider whether to use curtain rings or not. Using curtain rings can add a good amount of exciting detail to your room. But if you have a very ornate design, they might make the room look busy and over-elaborate. Winding wires I had 6 curtains ranging anywhere from 93″L – 96″L – UGH!! That meant that the 3 curtains that were around 93″L would NO LONGER WORK! The reason I wanted to go over all of this (I know it’s boring) is because choosing the style and hanging method is the most important part of the entire process. This is just another alternative way to make pinch pleats, if you don’t have any RIKTIG pins ready available.

Simply mount the ends on the wall or in the ceiling and add the curtain hooks and textiles. The length of the wire is adjustable, so you can always get the measurements just right. On top of that, it goes around corners as well. That way, you can place it above corner windows or a door entrance. Or why not let it expand from a window and along your entire wall?Sidebar:I washed all of my RITVA curtains after we flooded, and they all shrunk!! And how did I know this – well because I measured all of them. Do you need 2 curtain panels? While it may seem logical that curtains should come in sets of two, curtains do not always come in pairs. They most often come in panels. Panels are a single piece of fabric or one curtain. If you want a typical curtain pair, you will need to buy two panels. The first thing you will want to do is measure your window height and width, including any trim. Then you can decide how high and how wide you want to mount your curtains.

Winding wires

I chose these finials because I wanted a “cleaner” look, and also because I needed something that would fit that “tight” corner area. The reason I chose this height is so that I could use IKEA curtains (which are 98″L) AND use other ready-made brands that are 96″L with rings/clips = 96″ + 2 1/2″ = 98 1/2″L. First step is to turn the curtain hook “upside down” with the hook part oriented at the bottom, instead of the top, and open up the curtain hook a little bit.
