A 14 anni uscivo dalla fase dei romanzi storici d’avventura, cappa e spada, pirati. Ancora parzialmente sedato da Hugo, Dumas, Salgari e Perez-Reverte mi orientai verso questo volume dal titolo misterioso e minimalista all’apice del suo successo e con la vaga idea che avrebbe potuto piacermi. Profondamente deluso, non riuscii a superare pagina 100 e nei 15 anni successivi ho portato l’infame marchio dell’eretico quando in consessi di sinistra più o meno militante osavo dire che non avevo letto Q perché non mi era piaciuto. I Wu Ming sono una sorta di feticcio del panorama contro-culturale italiano, a volte a giusto titolo per la pertinenza di certe loro analisi su fenomeni politici e sociali, ma mi è sempre parso che la lettura di Q fosse considerata un rito di passaggio, o un prerequisito, anche solo per poter leggere e opinare sul resto della loro produzione. Schiere di persone dai gusti e idee affidabili scuoteva la testa con fare costernato quando ammettevo la mia delusione nei confronti di Q. Mi sono fatto coraggio, davanti alla mole del librone, dicendomi -se hai letto “3 metri sopra al cielo” per dire che è brutto, lo puoi fare anche con Q-. Oppure no.
