About this deal

Now as a mother to three beautiful children, she tells them all the time to follow their dreams, be whatever they want. Those lessons reminded her how much she loved writing. She finally opened the door to making writing a real priority in her life. Diane Tavenner is pioneering a new vision for education in the United States. In 2003, Diane co-founded Summit Public Schools — a nationally-recognized nonprofit with 15 public middle and high schools in California and Washington. Drawing on two decades as a teacher and school leader, Diane created a first-of-its kind educational model that prepares kids for college and for a good life after graduation. Summit schools are rooted in the unshakeable belief that all students have the potential for success. This belief fuels the staff’s relentless drive to test new approaches to continuously improve the student experience, so they graduate prepared for college and life. Prepared is a roadmap for teachers, principals, parents and even students that paves the way for every child to reach adulthood and to thrive. Interweaving personal and professional anecdotes of how students navigate the terrain, Diane offers a new and engaging version of high school that prepares every child for college and for a fulfilled life.” —Priscilla Wohlstetter, Distinguished Research Professor, Teachers College, Columbia University In 2003, DianeTavennercofoundedthefirst schoolin what would soon become one of America’s most innovative public-school networks. This book was on the point, at first the writing was boring and didn’t interest me. Though, when things started to heat up by the second, all I was feeling was anxiety, stress, and a constant headache from overwhelming myself. Miss Kourtney definitely did an amazing job with how she made me feel in each chapter. And that’s for me is a success to an apocalypse book. And the found family trope? I was loving every second of it.Harness your brain chemistry to eliminate the freeze response and increase your stress tolerance during a crisis

Situational Awareness: Glover stresses the importance of situational awareness, which involves being observant of your surroundings and knowing potential escape routes in places you frequent regularly. When we enable kids to follow their curiosities and interests, they learn much more. As they learn much more, they get better at learning. It becomes a virtuous cycle." In total, there are over 1,500 practice questions in the book. I found Kaplan’s practice material to be highly realistic and particularly helpful in predicting the kinds of patterns I would see on the actual exam. Diane Tavenner’s courageous book, Prepared, is an intimate portrait of Summit schools—their leaders, teachers and children—putting into practice the science of learning and human development where environments and relationships drive the development of the brain. It is a roadmap by a passionate leader for anyone who sees the purpose of schooling as unleashing the potential of each and every child.” —Pamela Cantor, M.D., founder, Turnaround for Children and partner, Science of Learning andDevelopment Initiative I do enjoy the artwork here and the story of Vera is great. She does a lot of growing up over the summer. It's tough feeling lonely and out of place around all those people.

This is such a great story, both for kids that don’t fit in, and also for kids that have had to learn to live in a new country, and don’t fit in even with their fellow refugees. The kids are very real, and the story feels the way things do go in life. Nine-year-old Vera Brosgol is a Russian immigrant living with her mom and two siblings in New York. Acutely aware of how she's different, Vera desperately wants to fit in with her American friends. One day, when she overhears them talking about how fun summer camp is, she begs her mom to send her to one--specifically "Orra," a camp for Russian children. There, she thinks, she’ll be surrounded only by those just like her. For the first time, she won’t feel so different. Her mom agrees to send her. So when her husband comes home from a business trip and eats their nanny, well, she does what a gal has to do. Bye-bye husband, snags the neighbour's RV, and heads out to Pop's old place. Along the way she comes across a couple more teens, meets some nice people and some who are not so nice, and kills a lot of zombies.I was irritated by several things Alex did. But I came to understand or tried to understand her character more and more, but it never justified her actions. We never got a sitting with the kids and the talk?? I was waiting for that at the end of the book but it never came. We directly jumped to a forwarded time. I was disappointed by that, severely disappointed. Miss Kourtney I hope the second does discuss the situation, and it has talks and discussions and justifications and all of that. Far from being a fear-inducing rant, this book lays out plain and simple the basic foundations on being prepared for catastrophe. Not just for your sake, but for the sake of others. I know from my own experience as a father that I’ve enjoyed watching my children get curious about a topic and then seeing how their knowledge deepens and grows. And the most rewarding part is when they can teach me about what they’ve learned. This is the best book for IELTS writing and general training, especially if you are looking for some quality video tutorials with detailed explanations and practice test examinations along with tips and strategies. This book covers all four sections of IELTS with video tutorials to master the topics and is very affordable. I’ve given the book a five star rating for the contents and their vision! If only half of what the book tells you is completely true and reality (my life experience still nags me to find the catch) then I also want to live in such a world ;)!
