About this deal

Would reccomend this one over the original any day. Get it before it's discontinued like Tobaco Oud Intense. From everything in Tom Ford’s upper niche line, this one is the easiest one to love. I guess that says it all. If you have a local retailer that sells Ford’s fragrances, do yourself a favor and try this masterpiece. I love it, and I believe that, based on its smell alone, it is one of the best fragrances of all time for me. I really like the smell of this. I realized that I smell a lot of the pepper and woods. It’s smooth, but sharp in a peppery way that I really like. The wood is like almost metallic to my nose but not metallic like sauvage or something, but I can’t quite put my mind on it. When I first smelled it, I thought of food, but not sweets like a gourmand, but I wasn’t too sure what it was. Then it hit me, it’s gotta be the pepper, which I love, and I guess maybe the vetiver? There are the slightest bit of warming qualities most likely coming from tonka and richer notes of vanilla, but you don’t really pinpoint those like you would in true sweet scents. I’m imagining that the sandalwood is what helps give it a good blended smell that isn’t screechy. Again, it has a sharpness, but don’t confuse sharp with screech. Very different here.

It’s super unique and classy, but also dark, spicy and mysterious. It’s best work in a suit but can be word down as well. It’s a compliment monster if anyone can smell it on you. Unfortunately, this is a shame since most of the comments you’ll receive are within the first two hours, during which the scent projects enough. You need it to sit a little while before it starts to reveal the vanilla sweet undertone (like vanilla ice cream).

Tom Ford Oud Wood: Price UK

Continuing with the story of the previously discontinued Yves Saint Laurent M7, this one feels like a natural progression and a successful sequel to bring oud note to the western world. I never liked much anamalic in my fragrances, but it's so balanced and well done in "London", it's become an exciting piquant note, without being skanky at all. Many are saying this is a leather fragrance. Maybe the castoreum is anamalic in a leather-like way? It starts pretty good with a good dose of oud & as it drys down, there is a phase where it smells very similar to the original Oud Wood, although transiently only.

This shouldn't be a scent that I like. It's strong, acrid, completely dry and devoid of sweetness, but it became my easy reach fragrance in winter. I find it such a warming and comfortable scent, evocative of smouldering coals. Extremely expensive/the idea that "normal" people would want to smell like this, or want to smell it period is stretching it. Its more than a vibe, its well.. niche. In case you are in doubt about whether you should consider buying any fragrance, it’s always good to take a look at Scent Grail’s S.P.A. Signature Factor Guide.

this is a more masculine scent but it's very unisex for me in the beginning, at least it is on my skin. the tonka bean with the cardamom is soo pleasant and it's my favorite part of this scent, it really reminds me of kulfi (i know TF noir extreme contains a kulfi note, it's a fragrance i've been wanting to test out for so long now). the dry down is very pleasant too with the oud being decent and it pairs well with the vanilla. it's definitely more woody than "oud-y" though. The key to making Oud Wood Intense shine is "less is more" upon application. If you over-spray Oud Wood Intense it can turn cloying and rather pretentious. Over-spraying also keeps you from experiencing the individual notes especially during the dry down. One spray or two at the very most is all you need and it lasts for several hours and more than 24 hours if applied to clothing. Plus the smell after 24 hours is quite noticeable and extremely nice to me anyway. On a scale of 1-10 I give Oud Wood Intense a solid 8. It's a great leather/oud based scent with the leather playing the leading role and very authentically I might add. Where as the original is quite wearable, even clean smelling and a good compliment getter. This is niche in every sense of the word. As in...

For a fragrance that has been around since 2007, I have to say that time has been kind to it. With all the reformulations, the basic structure and high-quality ingredients are still present here. The juxtaposition of oud and leather is not always a case of harmony. As an example stands the legendary LeatherOud from DIOR - a very sharp, bold fragrance, blended in a way that leather doesn't compliment the dryness of oud because it is over-layered by animal notes of civet. The amount of animal civet notes is so strong, that a nose easily misses the sublime velvetiness of oud and depth of a fine leather. The same problem goes in Al Oudh by L`Artisan Parfumeur, where civet is so strong, that you can hardly smell any oud during first 2 or 3 hours of wearing it. Along with Tuscan Leather, and Tobacco Vanille, this scent has shaped modern 21st-century perfumery, and it is a fragrance everyone should sample. In 2007, the Private Blend collectionof perfumes was introduced by Tom Ford, a line focusing on the niche side of perfumery. More daring and more complex at a higher price point.

In the realm of olfactory elegance, Tom Ford Oud Wood stands as an absolute masterpiece, a symphony of notes that evoke enigma and allure. Imagine a cold night, a sky studded with stars, and the aroma of agar, Brazilian rosewood, and cardamom weaving an intricate tapestry. As the scent unfolds, hints of Sichuan pepper, vanilla, vetiver, tonka bean, and amber emerge, creating a spellbinding composition. As you may have already noticed in the previous paragraphs of this review, the biggest concern with this fragrance is its performance. It’s amazing. Always has been. Always will be. Could be stronger, yes. Longevity is fine, projection moderate to low, depending on the day. I find the longevity is good, 6-8 hours on skin and forever on clothes; sillage isn’t amazing but I’m not sure I’d want this to project like crazy. I typically wear this when I’m going to evening events, have a nice suit, a pair of Loake shoes and my Rolex on (shameless brag). It makes me feel sophisticated, and the compliments (although not frequent) reflect that. This oozes classiness. I think this is quite a good composition for people starting to wear oud fragrance, it composes well to the point you are not pulled off by oud of Arabian style fragrance.

For a fragrance with “Oud” in its name, some might find it strange that oud has a supporting role throughout the whole life of the fragrance. Truthfully, I would skip all the designer and niche “ inspired” versions of this perfume and always go with the original. It is a masterful blend of woods and spices with that artistic touch Mr. Ford is known for. I like everything about it but would have loved it if the performance was more amped up. This stuff is absolutely brutal. It isn’t pleasant or inviting. It demands attention, and will beat you up and leave you begging for mercy if you so much as LOOK at another Tom Ford fragrance. This is a fragrance for someone who never starts a fight, but always ends them. This is what Oud Wood would smell like if it hit the gym and stole Tuscan Leather’s girl. The amber note is brooding, coarse, heavy, and powerful by nature. It envelops the wearer in a veil of introspectiveness, wisdom, and coolness. This is an agarwood-based fragrance for people who don’t usually wear oud fragrances which also includes me. From everything in Tom Ford’s upper niche line, this one is the easiest one to love. I guess that says it all. If you have a local retailer that sells Ford’s fragrances, do yourself a favor and try this masterpiece. Make sure you apply it on a clean skin after shower and not while running sweaty sniffing testers in a perfume store. Right now i can still smell what i had applied 16 hours ago, 2022 batch if you must know. As for the monetary value, it would be better if Tom Ford perfumes didn’t get more expensive with each passing year. For me, it is well worth the price, and I own two 50ml bottles that will stay in my collection forever. Oud Wood by Tom Ford is a unisex woody spicy fragrance released in 2007, created by Richard Herpin. There is a little light in the midst of the darkness. The almost unnoticeable vanilla note adds a touch of warm sweetness to the gloomy scene and creates a luminous focal point for a lighter olfactory path. Despite my collection of more than a hundred oud perfumes, I do enjoy wearing it from time to time. Today, on the eve of Christmas eve, the weather is sunny and cold, a perfect day to spray some Oud Wood upon me.
