Ben was not impressed by the augmented reality (AR) aspect of the smart globe. It was difficult to get working and to Ben who is 12 quite a letdown in what it did. The Smart Globe comes with a smart pen. With this smart pen, students can use it to discover country names, native languages, national anthems, history, geography, amazing facts, the local currency of different countries, and the population. There are more than 20,000 fun facts for students to discover with these smart globes. They offer the students and teacher endless educational entertainment in the classroom.This cleverly designed globe also opens up to reveal the Earth’s core and the Solar System, which can be explored using both the Smart Learning Pen and also cutting edge Augmented Reality content. While it is not a cheap item it is one that is suitable for all the family and as it is updatable it could last the family for years to come. However, my views soon changed and I am now keen for it to be accessible for Ben to use whenever he wants to learn all he can about the world around us. Maps offer a much more distorted view because it is flat. To use it, you select your age group and activity, then follow the instructions. There are simple games like finding certain places on the globe and touch them with the pen. There are three age range settings; 5 to 8, 9 to 14 and 15+, and a pull-out local map so you can explore the UK and Ireland in more detail.
