What I have learned after a week of using it is that the Ninja Speedi is basically the kitchen gadget for people who don't have the time or inclination to regularly use kitchen gadgets. I was happy with the final result. The liquid from the kebabs drips through onto the rice a little, so just be aware that what you cook on top will slightly come through to the bottom layer. That shouldn’t be an issue, as it is one meal that you’re making. The Ninja Speedi combines many cooking functions into one appliance, similar to the Ninja Foodi but without pressure cooking. The standard position is to have this crisper plate at the bottom, which works for regular air frying. In this way, the Speedi is similar to most air fryers. I did find that it was easier to use silicone tongues to turn food, as the pot is a little hard (and hot) to remove and shake. But with so many well-reviewed energy efficient airfryers already available and most homes already having one taking up valuable space - in my case my trusty family-friendly Acti-Fry Genius XL - does the market (or more importantly my counter top) need another one?

Based out of a huge office and testing facility in the top of the former Battersea Power Station in London, a team of more than 130 design engineers have spent two years designing, testing and tweaking an air fryer with a difference. Next, I tested the most touted feature of the Speedi, its Speedi Meal function, using the recipe for turkey meatloaf with cheesy riced cauliflower from the accompanying booklet. The instructions were easy to follow, the food cooked in the half hour recommended in the recipe, and the meal turned out exactly as pictured. Many of these Ninja Foodi Recipes and Air Fryer Recipes can easily be adapted to the Ninja Speedi because the functions are the same. Remember that it can take several tries to get used to using the machine, once you do though it will be worth it. While the Speedi is almost silent when it steams, the air fry setting makes a whooshing noise that sounds like a hair dryer on low speed. It’s certainly not louder than your average air fryer, but it does make noise. There are no handles on the pot and the crisper tray With the lid down, the Speedi fits easily under a cabinet but when in use, it has to be pulled forward on the countertop to provide enough room to raise the lid. This Ninja air fryer and multicooker comes with a large removable cooking pot and a flat crisper tray. Slow Cook - Slowly cook food at a lower temperature for tender results - perfect for pulled pork, veggie chilli and more. Devotees also bake cakes and roast joints of meat in it and, while I'm not there yet, I've found this the least intimidating and most versatile kitchen gadget I've ever owned - and you don't have to be a Masterchef to get great results with it. The Ninja Speedi is 6 quarts, which ends up feeding a family of 4 quite well all in one pot! Can you use pans in the Ninja Speedi?The Speedi is designed to air fry, steam, or do both at once. Using a combination of both functions, it can cook Speedi Meals consisting of a grain, a vegetable, and a protein simultaneously on two levels. In addition, it has settings for Steam & Crisp, Steam & Bake, Steam, Proof, Air Fry, Bake/Roast, Broil, Dehydrate, Sear/Sauté, Slow Cook, and Sous Vide.

It doesn’t have a traditional air fryer’s highest temperatures, but if you more want a device that delivers flexible cooking, the Speedi is a great choice. Design and Features From the outside, the Ninja Speedi looks much like the company’s other air fryer/grill combination products, such as the Ninja AG651UK. In truth, the Speedi, despite the focus on its 15-minute meals, is a similar product in most regards. It steams a small portion of vegetables well but then so does a microwave. While it slow cooks, it doesn’t create the melt-in-your mouth results that you typically get from slow cooking.

In spite of its many functions, the Ninja is exceptionally easy to program. The lever to switch between air fry or rapid cooker mode is large and easy to flip. Once you do that, it’s completely intuitive to select a cooking program, temperature, and time on the control panel. There is no automatic preheat cycle but the manual instructs to add 5 minutes to air fry cooking times to heat up the oven before you begin cooking. That means you have to set a timer to remind you when to add your food, but that’s a relatively minor inconvenience. Cleanup is a breeze For instance, one of my personal favorites is this Ninja Foodi Pumpkin Bread, it can easily be made in the Ninja Speedi with the Bake Function just as it was in the Ninja Foodi. Steam Bake - Create fluffy cakes and bakery-style bread at home, from garlic bread knots to cookie cheesecake, or savoury dishes like baked vegetable gratin.
