About this deal

One trope I can’t stand and avoid at all costs is the pregnancy trope. The pregnancy usually takes over the storyline, and the lovers seems to lose themselves and their spark and what makes them “them”, but I pushed through and I’m glad I did. The author made sure the characters stayed true to themselves throughout the whole story, and ya know what? I didn’t mind the pregnancy one bit! In fact, it added to the story in such a good way, and I wouldn’t change a thing! Bottom Line? Overall, I really liked it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Max was my flavor of j/p hot, Cassidy was my flavor of sweet. The story was solid. I plan to read the next book. But the unnecessary prison story line and the need for an editor to remove the excess put this at 3.5 stars for me. 😅 These two are just… freaking perfect for each other. Shoshanna was forced into a little box of normality where she thought she was taking the safe road, one that was stable and would bring her happiness… but she’s utterly miserable, and it takes Bronson crashing into her life again for her to finally realize what she’s been missing all this time. Ch30 of book1 Our thing, deserves special mention because until then the story was oscillating between romance and the sneak peeks of mafia in the District and what secrets lay therein..but this chapter...this chapter explained "A thief is a criminal until he's stealing to feed his kin. A neglectful mother is a bad mother until she is working two jobs to give her children the best opportunities. A gun is terrifying until it's what's keeping you safe, and then you're terrified without it." which Cassidy thinks in a chapter long before this one...The way she was frozen but later stood up for herself and like desperate times call for desperate measures?,she just did it!I loved her more in this chapter.

I lift my weighted, dazed eyes open to find heated green-blue flames within his. As a dark shadow of possessiveness moves into his eyes, he jolts up to grab my throat. His fingers twist against the pulsing rhythm of my pussy, setting me off completely. “No one can save you from me, baby, because-” He grunts with the onslaught of his fingers, puncturing me with each word as he growls, “You. Are. Mine. Even your breath. Mine. Say. It.” » Bronson - “𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙮 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙧𝙩, 𝙗𝙖𝙗𝙮. 𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙊𝙡𝙖𝙛 𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙮. 𝙃𝙚 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙡𝙤𝙮𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙨. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚. 𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙛*****𝙜 𝙢𝙚𝙡𝙩, 𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙩𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙡𝙖𝙢𝙚. 𝙃𝙚 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 … 𝙗𝙖𝙗𝙮, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙪𝙙𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙗𝙖𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙨𝙚” His world is going to intoxicate her. The dangerous men that he calls family will want to use her, tutu and all. Georgia’s portrayal of Cassidy was kind, pure, driven and determined to get her man and I fell hard for her sweet and gentle disposition. I really wanted to dislike this book because damn was Cassidy annoying, but for the life of me I couldn’t. It was everything. Max Butcher is without a doubt going to make your panties drop and walk themselves to the laundry basket because there’s no point in wearing any when Maxipad is about. The guy has every lustful book boyfriend trait all perfectly moulded into a tattooed hunk of a man. He’s broody, possessive, alpha, charming, sweet, sexy…. And the stamina of the man JEBUS (IYKYK)

I enjoyed this one a lot it managed to easily pull me into the narrative and these two have so much chemistry together it finishes on a HFN so no cliffhanger and I’m definitely ready for more Cassidy and Max in the next book which I’m looking forward to starting. Nicci writes with so much love, passion and emotion with Bronson and Shoshanna it will leave you so emotional. Max, from the beginning, was an asshole, he knows he's an asshole, but he tries to be the person he knows he wants to be for Cassidy in their own way. But there is more to Max Butcher than the cold, cruel facade he wears like armour. I know; I saw the broken boy inside him one day when we were only children. Chapter 10 ~ "I love you Max Butcher," I whisper. "I don't deserve you" –he presses his lips to mine– "Cassidy Slater. I'm keeping you anyway. " ♥︎

I’m also certain that this author is likely on some sort of watch list with some of the research that she must have done for this book. There are TW at the beginning of the book, so please be mindful of those. We hear from dual perspectives in this book. The story goes from Shoshanna’s and Bronson’s childhood, to their present. You get to see Bronson in a new light and I love him even more. Well as much as you can love a fictional character.

The writing is exceptional and the editing and grammar are on point. There is nothing to distract from the amazing story line the author unfolds as the book goes on.You’ll fall in love with Bronson’s jovial, psychotic nature & the way he loves his people hard. Shoshanna is fierce & loyal & puts the people she cares about above herself. You know, a handsome huge gangster is considerate and patient more than you and same time dying from his longing for you and same time boiling for revenge for who did this to you. Nicci Harris has written another winner within the series and I am excited to see what's in store for the "Kids of the District."

I was completely blown away with this book. If you haven’t read Our Thing you need to read it first. Because this is the second book of Cassidy and Max’s story. The story-building and writing is sharp with just the right amount of humor to balance out the dastardly setting that is the district. As with her previous book, Nicci Harris focuses strongly on the theme of family. Her depiction of the mafia and the commitments and struggles of those "in" the lifestyle are raw and honest. I relish the elevated romance within Cosa Nostra as the lines between love, desire, and obsession begin to blur creating an eruption of forbidden passion and ecstasy. Max and Cassidy's relationship is the type of love story that you love to hate, innately they know its bad for them, but like a slut for punishment they pursue it anyway because in the immortal words of Cassidy, "avoiding conflict to prevent a battle, can often start a war on your heart."
