About this deal

Will the character races in Monsters of the Multiverse be available in addition to the old versions?

The first thing you’ll notice is an array of updated races, some with modified or improved abilities, and some with new ones! Those little kobolds have just become a lot mightier! You'll also find monsters have been improved to make the lives of Dungeon Masters easier when running combat. For example, some monsters have seenchanges to streamlinespellcasting. Others havereceived buffs to theirdamage and resilience to helpyou better challengeyour adventurers. New and updated lore also shifts focus away from any one particular world and instead toward the wider Dungeons & Dragons multiverse. All of this combines to present a variety of options that empower DMs and players to tell the stories they want to tell! Essentially, if you’re trying to build the most effective ranger possible (or wizard, or monk, or artificer), there are some races that are less effective than others when using the older rules. Now players will be more able to “follow their bliss,” as Crawford put it, and not be “pigeonholed” into certain classes based solely on their choice of race. Monster Manual 2, too Size. Firbolgs are interesting. They’re basically like, what if you took a troll and then made it kind of afraid and, like, human-sized? Fey Ancestry. You have advantage on saving throws you make to avoid or end the charmed condition on yourself. But reading through all of this, you get a sense of what the future holds for D&D. Glimpsing the Future in Monsters of the Multiverse

That is absolutely a thing. There are a lot of there are a lot of things you see. It’s like, oh, that’s a spider. And it’s terrible. But at least arachnomancers can’t can’t summon them. Because they’re spiders. Nope, whole cloud of them coming out your face.Compiling and updating monsters that originally appeared in Volo’s Guide to Monsters and Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes. I was very happy about Kenku. Kenku got a very noticeable buff, and they’ve always been a very fun race. So seeing this whole like they can give themselves skill bonuses now and can talk outside of their mimicry, which was always a weird roleplay thing. But the skill bonuses I mean, it’s there’s definitely reasons why You wouldn’t use a kenku now apart from just the stats spread, which because they’re in this book is no longer a thing for the roleplay benefits, so I was excited to see them. And also satyrs getting reprinted in this book as a playable race. Very happy about that. Air Genasi move faster and can cast levitate and feather fall. Earth Genasi can cast Blade Ward. But better, they can cast it as a Bonus Action up to their proficiency bonus times per day, so you actually might use it. They feel distinct is what I’m saying. Also, there’s going to be a lot of line-by-line comparison to previous books. I’m going to miss stuff. It’s okay to point it out, just… remember that I’m just one person doing my best. Okay? Okay.
