GW's new range matches with the old range are the matches claimed by GW. However, many of the paints do not match very closely at all and some mixing will be required to get close to the original colours. If you are trying to match old GW with new GW, you'd be better just getting Vallejo game color or coat d'arms for the closest match ) Techniques for painting the core elements of the Salamanders, including their classic green armor, flame designs, and heat scarring from melta weapons. Any metals on the bases were done in Balthazar Gold or Leadbelcher depending on whether they were ornamental or industrial, and washed/drybrushed appropriately. Finally, the bases themselves were painted with two thin coats of Zandri Dust, ready for PVA and sand. With that, the models were complete!

Floorplans

The king size bed has bedside cabinets and there’s plenty of storage in built-in cupboards with shelves and drawers. In their earliest incarnations, Necrons were a simpler force, consisting primarily of robots clad in metal bodies with little adornment. As the faction has been revised, they’ve become more elaborate, and subfactions that call for different color schemes have emerged, creating a good deal of variety in the way you can paint them. The entrance is through a gate off Moot Green on the path between Crag Path and Crabbe Street and a path leads round to the garden, with double doors from both the kitchen and the double bedroom on the ground floor, plus the front door at the side. Edge highlight the armor with Silver mixed with just enough Pure Copper to give it a hint of color. White highlights: White is put on the sharp corners of the face, dabbed along the bright areas of the gauss tube, and on the most raised portions of the gauss coils and wires. At this stage I could call this guy done, he’s ready for the battlefield.

Broke out the Tamiya Gold Leaf here but any metallic gold will do. After that I used the Contrast Iyanden Yellow to give it a more reddish hue of gold. Finally, paint in the lenses and the Gauss energy. For the red lenses, just use the color progression we used for the gun casing. For the Guass energy and green lenses, basecoat the areas with Citadel Caliban Green, then glaze in progressive amounts of Warpstone Glow, Moot Green, and Gauss Blaster Green. Finally, base the model and you are done! I like to put a little bit of rust pigments on the feet and other low hanging parts of my models to tie them in, but I think I went a little too heavy here. I’m definitely excited to see my Necrons on the table again soon. I’ve already begun planning how how I’m going to glow up my Thaszar the Invincible model to better match the cooler, edgier Necron models of 9th edition. Once the main colours are done, I finish up the greens. Most of the green is started from a couple of thin coats of Moot Green. For cables and orbs I then wash towards the connection points with Biel Tan Green which is left to dry and then another coat of thinned Moot Green is used to blend the edges away from where the shade has dried. If you wish to highlight this a little further, a mix of Moot Green and Yriel Yellow in a 3:1 ratio works well. I did have a few models done however, and now that I'm going froward with an Orc army my concern is primarily Goblin Green. GW's paint conversion chart says Warboss Green is the best match from the new paints, but it doesn't even look close! Moot Green looks more like the old Scorpion Green I think... The Everliving Legion is a collection of short stories focusing on the Necrons and various aspects of their culture.

Kantor Blue: a deep blue color that can be used to create shadows and provide contrast to the bright green. Wide carpeted stairs rise from the half landing to another landing where there's a chair inviting you to stop and enjoy the views of the boating pond, Moot Hall, and the shingle beach. Three more stairs take you to the living room.

The parchment is glazed or layered depending on the size of the area with flayed one flesh and the seals get a area highlight of warpfiend and slaanesh grey, those could be glazed or transitioned in but usually they are small enough that you can get away with just the one coat of each.Moot Green from Citadel Colour is a highly pigmented acrylic paint that is perfect for use as a base coat on miniatures. The paint has a matt finish, which makes it an excellent foundation for layering other colors and achieving a wide range of effects. The pigments in the paint are finely ground, providing excellent coverage and allowing for easy application even for beginners. Moot Green is a versatile color that can be used in a variety of miniature painting schemes, it can be used as a foundation for a palette, think of it as the canvas for a painting, it sets the tone for the rest of the colours. What vehicle armies to paint with Moot Green One prominent aspect of the Salamanders is their use of flame and melta weapons in battle. They often paint flame designs on their armor as well, and this can add some interesting challenge to painting Salamanders models. I love the ostentatious colour scheme of the Nihilakh Dynasty, not afraid to show off their riches on even the lowliest Necron Warrior.
