About this deal

Once primed, keep the membranes of the filter hydrated by storing at least 1 inch/2.5 cm of water in the LifeSaver product at all times.Remove and discard the activated carbon filter from the Jerrycan and clean the Jerrycan. Keep the product sealed with the pump and tap in place and do not allow the membranes to dry out.Release pressure before storage by unscrewing the pump slowly until you hear a hissing sound.Storage temperatures shouldstay within -10°C/14°F and 50°C/122°F. If you don’t have a shower at all in your van, I would say the Lifesaver is an essential road trip accessory.Being able to filter your water so it’s safe, and then use it to have a decent, pressurised shower, is a MASSIVE deal.

LifeSaver Jerrycan meets NSF Protocol P248 standard for U.S. Military LifeSaver Jerrycan meets NSF Protocol P248 standard for U.S. Military update: We are still, years later, continuing to use this jerrycan daily. It’s fantastic and is definitely a motorhome essential we wouldn’t be without.

Jerrycans

Lifesaver has a filter which inserts easily into one side of the tank… and a tap which allows you to get the water out easily, while the jerrycan is either standing upright or lying on its side. The second time I praised the LifeSaver was when our dog, Mac, decided to roll in a puddle. A disgusting, wet, muddy, smelly, horrible puddle. (Get a dog, they said…)

We’re extremely proud to announce that our LifeSaver® Jerrycan has passed compliance testing for NSF Protocol P248 Military Operations – Microbiological Water Purifiers. This certification means LifeSaver’s filter technology meets the high standards of the U.S. Military, and places the brand among a very elite few to have achieved this benchmark. What is NSF Protocol P248? The shower attachment was PERFECT to wash off the dog outside the van. A few pumps and there was enough pressure to do an excellent job. He was squeaky clean afterwards and it only used about a third of a tank. It also has a shower attachment, which might be the best bit of the entire thing- but we’ll get to that shortly. The LifeSaver Jerrycan is a great way to both store and purify water during overlanding adventures. But it’s also a daily source of clean water in the vehicle. The NSF Protocol P248 was developed with the U.S. Army Public Health Command (USAPHC) based on the EPA Guide Standard, with the goal of providing deployed military personnel the capability to produce sustainable quantities of safe drinking water in any environment.LifeSaver Technology is able remove particles in suspension in water, not particles in solution. This means that some things will not be filtered out of your LifeSaver: The LifeSaver Jerrycan was designed to store and carry dirty water. We recommend storing dirty water, either in the Jerrycan or in other storage containers, and filtering through the Jerrycan as and when clean water is required, to prevent recontamination of previously filtered water. Also, you don’t need to add ANY chlorine. We always add chlorine to the tanks on our motorhome when we refill the water tank, just in case something is wrong with the water supply (we use this Chlorine religiously). Even though it’s really good and I can never taste it, I know it’s there and I LOVE the fact that we didn’t need to add any chlorine to the water which we are drinking. One of the most frustrating things about long-term or full time vanlife or overland travel is finding clean, safe drinking water.

Tested by Independent Test House to exceed NSF P248 compliance standards, for virus, bacteria and protozoan cyst reduction by the US Army Public Health Center (MEDCOM)One of the most common uses for me during the testing period was to purify the often funky-tasting, odd-smelling, or heavily chlorinated potable water offered at parks. I value the peace of mind drinking cleaner-tasting, odor-free water. Tested by Independent Test House to exceed NSF P248 compliance standards, for virus, bacteria and protozoan cyst reduction by the US Army Public Health Center (MEDCOM) Pesticides and Heavy metals will not be filtered out. However, optional activated carbon filterremoveschlorine, taste and odour
