I found it to be beautifully written with such heartfelt emotion across a wide cross selection of themes and characters. I simply love the concept of collecting stories whilst unknowingly unraveling one kept so close to your own heart. Sally has penned an intelligent yet thoughtful book that is sure to endear itself to many readers. A Keeper of Secrets is a highly intelligent creature, a being whose silvered words and languid gestures belie its true power. It is claimed these are the most entrancing of all immortals, and that to look upon one is to surrender every last shred of self-will. A Greater Daemon of Slaanesh knows the most intimate desires of every mortal being, and will use this horrific knowledge to gain power over its foes, seducing them with whispered promises they cannot hope to resist. The cleansing azure flames roared through the halls like a hungry spirit, consuming the daemons in its path, leaving those hellspawn that survived as ripe prey for the advancing Grey Knights.

Keeper of Secrets Shalaxi Helbane

This book really isn’t something I would’ve found organically and chosen for myself to read, but I was actually pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it in the end. If you want something a little bit different, and you’re the kind of person who makes up a little narrative about every stranger they people watch on public transport - you might really like this one. Few who have encountered this Daemon can describe the shame of their desire, nor the lust for violence and depravity that overwhelms their rational senses in its presence, but the Keeper of Secrets is more than just a master of the mortal psyche; on the field of battle it is a graceful yet vicious killer that delights in the excessive, wanton violence it unleashes. Shalaxi Hellbane, a Keeper of Secrets whose primary purpose for Slaanesh is to defeat the Bloodthirsters of Khorne.

Can Cause Terror: This unit can cause terror, making its melee target rout for a short time. Units that have terror are immune to terror and fear themselves.Exalted Keepers of Secrets are taller than their standard counterparts, with a feathery crest and ensorcelled pincers further setting them apart. The Purifiers led the charge as the Grey Knights launched their assault on N'Kari and his daemonic host. The consecrated flame of their Incinerators preceded their advance. The Daemon's head, sometimes Human, sometimes bestial, is ringed with a nest of curved horns that glisten with an oily sheen. Its huge, jewelled eyes contain the secrets of pleasure and pain, hidden lusts and terrifying impulses. A serpent's tongue writhes from between its razored teeth, tasting the air and the perverse energy contained within. [2a]

Not really at all a mystery…. The “secret” that drives the book is very sad, but not very interesting & is revealed to the main character in the beginning. Some things are brought full circle, but I just didn’t find any of the reversals very gripping or interesting. The entire book is just fulfilling a dying aunt’s last wish, there’s not really mystery or suspense or action, just some random events that happen that manage to overlap. I personally wasn’t a fan of Cassie, so I found her annoying me and getting bored with a lot of the plot and her reactions to things. This is a story that offers something quite different. It is about a very quiet woman who seems to be on the outskirts of society, but has more power than she realises. I enjoyed reading her monologue of the dog she walks and appreciated seeing Janice’s lioness emerging as she finds her voice. For instance, I’m not sure I could have tolerated Janice’s husband as much as she had! Yet when these times do come, the Exalted Keeper of Secrets struts eagerly into the world, desperate to unleash their seductive enchantments and reap ever more souls for the Prince of Pleasure. [3] The Keepers of Secret live to feed from others' emotions, especially fear, hope, and despair. They love the sensation of cutting through flesh and bestowing the feeling of pain onto their enemies. [1] As well as striking amazingly fast with their limbs, they also cause corruption in another way: they love to turn emotions such as courage, bravery and valour into selfishness and other emotions. [4] Exalted Keeper of Secrets N'Kari - N'Kari is a powerful Keeper of Secrets who has repeatedly invaded realspace at crucial moments to advance Slaanesh's agenda. For some time now Janice has been collecting stories. She is a cleaner and she overhears lots of conversations because she is virtually invisible. It does not help that she has a husband of a thousand jobs. He is always coming up with hair-brained schemes as he eats into their savings mostly without even discussing it. He always refers to her as “just a cleaner” her job does not define her. With all these stories there is one story she neglects to think about is her own. ABOUT 'THE KEEPER OF STORIES': Cleaner Janice knows that it is in people’s stories that you really get to know them. From recently-widowed Fiona and her son Adam; to opera-singing Geordie; and the awful Mrs ‘YeahYeahYeah’ and her fox terrier, Decius, Janice has a unique insight into the community around her. On the field of battle, the Keepers of Secrets are rarely encountered alone. They are invariably accompanied by swarms of prancing Daemonettes, the ubiquitous Lesser Daemons of the Prince of Chaos. These cavort and dance across the killing fields, singing the praises of their master and dealing death to the armies of mortals. Worst of all, the Daemonettes often avoid killing the enemy's greatest champions and leaders, slaying or corrupting lesser troops as a delectable foretaste of the glorious spectacle that is the coming of the Keeper of Secrets. The champions are taunted and teased by the Daemonettes until the battlefield is carpeted with the corpses of the twitching dead. And then the Greater Daemon appears, and the slaughter and corruption truly begins.

Janice relishes others' stories and has a fondness for collecting them, not for gossip but to feel like she's part of their stories and gets to know them better. When she gets a new job cleaning for Mrs. B, a shrewd and formidable lady in her 90s, Janice finally meets someone who wants to know her (Janice’s) story and what she’s hiding beneath that effective cleaner façade. Will Janice share the story that she has kept buried for so long?
