About this deal

With intense character growth ( including more than just Nate and Kris), amazing spice, and swoony love declarations, If Love Had a Price is everything I crave in a romance novel. The phrase was first made by Fray Francisco de Ugalde, Spanish, to King Charles 1. The phrase was later used when Britain acquired other territories. In 1852, Alexander Campbell used the phrase to express the dominion of Britain and America. How big was the British Empire? I really loved Kris when we first met her in the series, so it was nice to uncover her character a little more. She starts off a little vain but from my experiences with her in previous books, I knew that was just a façade front she puts on to deal with her situations. Her growth throughout the novel is fabulous and that's really important in a character driven story like this.

But inside, he’s haunted—both by nightmares of a tragic loss, and dreams of the girl he once betrayed. Melting an ice princess like Kris started as a challenge, but by the time Nate realized there was more to Kris than meets the eye, it was too late: he had fallen. The characters are well-developed and interesting, the plot moves along at just the right pace, and there is plenty of steam to go around. The perfect romance read for any kind of day. Joseph Fouché recalled Napoleon saying before the Peninsular War, "Reflect that the sun never sets in the immense inheritance of Charles V, and that I shall have the empire of both worlds." [17] This was cited in Walter Scott's Life of Napoleon. [12] [18] As the sole provider for his family, Nate reluctantly agrees to Kris’s proposal. He doesn’t know why he impulsively included a kiss as part of the deal, but he does know that he is drawn to the high-class beauty. Will the pair be able to resist their attraction? And how can two people from completely different worlds work?

A steamy second chance romance from Ana Huang, the New York Times bestselling author of the Kings of Sin and Twisted series Blake, despite now being a successful businessman, continues to make foolish mistakes in the heart department. It was refreshing to see the writer continue Blake’s past in this novel, particularly with his family. This added continuation to the story and I’m pleased I didn’t leave too long between each book. On the other hand, despite now nearing thirty, I found Blake a little immature and quite frustrating with his decisions concerning Farrah. On reflection, maybe it is because the writer is suggesting that Blake is rather naive when it comes to love: his one true love is Farrah and he hasn’t experienced feelings of this depth before. One final note of contention: Sammy made it seem like Blake didn’t do anything wrong, that him cheating ( at the time , that’s the belief) and getting a girl pregnant, lying to his current girlfriend and making her believe that he didn’t love her , causing her to question her self worth and doubt her relationship , was out of LOVE? That it was nothing to get worked up about ? What kind of world is physical cheating, mental abuse , through deceit and making one question her self worth not a big deal ?? That’s worst than the actual lie he spew that he didn’t love her . That way, you can justify his cheating ., regardless if it happened or not . Everyone deserves closure. He never gave it to her because he masked his cowardice with “what’s best for her “ bull. Yah, no. He got himself into that situation to end up in that possible scenario no matter how you spin it . In the early 17th century, the phrase was familiar to John Smith [13] and to Francis Bacon, who writes: "both the East and the West Indies being met in the crown of Spain, it is come to pass, that, as one saith in a brave kind of expression, the sun never sets in the Spanish dominions, but ever shines upon one part or other of them: which, to say truly, is a beam of glory [...]". [14] Thomas Urquhart wrote of "that great Don Philippe, Tetrarch of the world, upon whose subjects the sun never sets." [15]
