By reporting side effects you can helpprovide more information on the safety of this medicine.If you have eczema, using a moisturiser regularly, even once your skin has improved, can help prevent flare-ups and reduce the need for topical corticosteroids.

By smoothing and softening the skin, moisturisers like Hydromol can improve the absorption of other medicines that are applied to the skin. This is useful in conditions like eczema, because it improves the ability of other medicines, such as corticosteroid creams, to penetrate the skin and reduce inflammation.

Medicines and their possible side effects can affect individual people in different ways. The following are some of the side effects that are known to be associated with this medicine. Just because a side effect is stated here does not mean that all people using this medicine will experience that or any side effect. Hydromol cream is generally considered safe for use on children as it is formulated to be gentle and non-irritating. It is recommended to consult with a paediatrician before using it on children, especially for young children or those with sensitive skin. Is Hydromol cream suitable for all skin types?

Your skin feels dry, itchy and scaly when the outer layer of skin cells, known as the stratum corneum, loses too much water. The stratum corneum normally contains natural water-holding substances that retain water seeping up from the deeper layers of the skin. Water is also usually kept in the skin by a film of natural oil (sebum) and broken-down skin cells that slow down evaporation of water from the skin surface.For more information about any other possible risks associated with this medicine, please read the information provided with the medicine or consult your doctor or pharmacist. How can Hydromol cream affect other medicines? Topical corticosteroids can be absorbed from normal intact skin. Inflammation and/or other disease processes in the skin increase percutaneous absorption. Occlusive dressings substantially increase the percutaneous absorption of topical corticosteroids. Thus, occlusive dressings may be a valuable therapeutic adjunct for treatment of resistant dermatoses (See DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION). However, unless otherwise directed by your doctor, it's best to leave about 30 minutes between applying your moisturiser and applying creams, ointments or lotions that contain a medicine, for example steroid or antibiotic creams. If you apply the moisturiser immediately before or after applying a medicated skin product, the moisturiser could dilute the medicine and potentially make it less effective.
