When it is ready to hatch you will see rainbox eyes through the egg shell and then the llalacorn will keep growing taller and taller until the egg shell has been pushed off! All in all this is a really fun toy to play with. We did find it somewhat difficult to get it to do what we wanted to though. We found that it helped to have it on a solid, flat surface but it can be a bit frustrating to work properly. I think if you are happy just to play randomly with it you will be ok, but if you are determined to make it do what it is supposed to you might struggle.

The instructions are so hard to decipher. As they cater for all languages, you have to wade through a lot, to find what you are looking for. Also they are complex! For example when recording your voice, there are so many things you can do and kids will need help with this.Tapping her tummy repeatedly which makes her laugh. If you do this continually then she gets the hiccups, and you have to shout BOO to stop them! Before I even write the full review I am writing this here so it is seen early on. We spoke to some people at Spin Master and this was their advice for hatching a reluctant Llalacorn: Tips for hatching/re-hatching the Llalacorn Hatchimals WOW Full disclosure: This was our second Hatchimals WOW. Our first Hatchimals WOW llalacorn didn’t hatch! Tilt the egg to wake up the Hatchimal – try to do this without touching the top of the egg, as this is where the sensors are that tell it that it’s in ‘in-egg’ mode. You need to do three interactions with the egg (tapping, tilting and the tilting for longer to ‘hug’ it) and then you should get ‘rainbow eyes’ and the egg will hatch.

There is another big difference with this year’s Hatchimals; they come in massive pink glittery eggs which are made of solid plastic and can be re-hatched again and again. This will please parents whose children begged for the eggs and lost interest past the hatching phase!

There’s over 250 sounds and interactions as well. The first time the llalacorn hatches she will even sing Hatchy Birthday. The llalacorn can also ay “I love you,” giggle, cry, sneeze, hiccup, and can let you know when she’s hungry with a tummy rumble! The Llalacorn expresses her emotions through movement, and everytime it hatches, wakes up in one of 10 different moods. I like the games you can play with it too, and hearing it say I love you is the cutest. Parental thoughts It can get hiccups with orange eyes or go cold with blue eyes but we didn’t see this before it hatched! The Hatchimal suddenly has rainbow eyes and you hear “ready to hatch music”. You then have to remove the ribbon band and it will hatch if upright. The top of the egg pops off and it sings “Happy Birthday”. Play peek-a-boo. If you put the egg top on the top of it's head it's eyes will turn off and it will make curious sounds. Take the top off and it's eyes will light up and it will say peek a boo! Try tapping one of it's toes while the egg is on top of it's head too.
