About this deal

With the XC35mm F2, Fujifilm has created a nifty lens that’ll be extremely popular with entry-level and amateur X-series photographers who’d love to own a 50mm equivalent prime for half the price of the XF35mm F2 R WR. The XF 35mm f/2 feels much nicer and adds an aperture ring, and it doesn't weigh much more than this plastic lens, but it costs as much as two of these perfectly good lenses. It’s hard to know exactly for sure if the optical chemistry and design are identical but I’m pretty sure it’s the same, based on what I’ve seen from various samples. Autofocus Which is fine, not all styles of photography require you to shoot super shallow depth all the time. Especially for the street or casual photographer. I sort of look at lenses like these as more small lightweight action lenses, they have their place and their purpose. Before we get going for real, I need to do a couple of disclaimers just to set everything straight. Feel free to skip everything but number 3 😉

The twice-as-expensive XF 35mm f/2 has exactly this same performance, and for all I know, that's because it probably has the same optical design. As most of you probably already know by now, the XC series from Fujifilm was created to offer a budget range of optics to go with Fujifilms X-series entry models. The XC16-50mm, the XC50-230mm and lately the compact XC15-45mm all shared a common build base. Whereas the XF lenses are metal barrel and metal lens mount builds, the XC lenses are manufactured using plastic materials. Saving cost, but also weight. In some of the earlier versions, I think some of the lens elements where made from plastic. But I’m not entirely sure of that, so please don’t hold me too accountable for that claim, until I have the time to verify that directly from Japan. Nifty fifty The other desirable lens that is similar to this is the Fuji XF 35mm f1.4 lens. While faster lenses are usually better, the 1.4 is more expensive but more importantly much bigger than the f2. In practice the f2 is just more practical and the stop of light is really not worth the weight unless you really need that shallower depth of field. Fuji 35mm f2 review ConclusionIt's all a question of time frame: long term you'll appreciate the quality feel of the XF 35mm f/2 long after the price has been forgotten - while if pictures are all that matter, this lens takes exactly the same pictures. Being a 50mm-ish the lens is extremely versatile and is great for portraits, street or general usage. You really can’t go wrong with a 50mm if you ask me! Sure there are other more portrait focused lenses out there… but the combination of affordability, portability makes this lens a good choice especially for a first X series lens. Let’s move on our Fuji 23mm f2 review with specific scenarios. Fuji 35mm f2 portraits Likewise, not all of the company's lenses are protected from dust and splashes. If you buy a Fujifilm camera with weather protection, make sure to reach for a lens with the "WR" designation to ensure that it's as well protected as your camera body. The GFX100 is a medium format camera that works with Fujinon GF lenses, but it isn't compatible with the XF and XC lenses used by the X system

I highly recommend it for any lower-budget photographer using Fujifilm gear. The Fujifilm XC 35mm F2 lens has an internal focusing (IF) system with a near-silent stepping motor. In practice, we found the auto-focus to be fast and accurate on the X-A7 body. Memory Cards & Storage SD Cards Micro SD cards CFexpress cards Compact Flash and CFast cards Card Readers SSD and USB Drives Scanners The XC 35mm f/2 is built on Fujifilm’s X-mount for APS-C mirrorless cameras. This lens mount has been around for around a decade now, which has allowed it to develop into a well-versed system.I hope you liked this Fuji 35mm f2 review. While not a true 35mm (it’s effectively a 53mm)The Fuji 35mm f2 is a great compact sized, fixed lens that has everything going for it: A great focal length that is great for portraits and street among other things, a very attractive price and is rangefinder sized with a fast f2 lens.
