The unit itself is a fantastic thing, full of functionality and well laid out and designed. I have bought this and am setting it up for a friend as he's not too technical, but this does give me the perspective of comparing it with my own unit which is Auralic Altair G1, which uses the same DAC chips (but was more than double the price). The DMP-A6 Master Edition is equipped with an integrated memory 4GB DDR + 32GB eMMC to be able to use many applications.

There is no headphone output with this A6, not really an issue for me as the analogue or digital output can very easily go into a headphone amplifier, like a Mojo2 for example. I note the Eversolo DACs have headphone outputs though. Thoughts This means that when you select the lovely and fundamentally honest Heads I Win, Tails You Lose by Olli Brown, the Eversolo doesn’t embellish what’s going on. All you get is an absurdly talented young bloke surrounded by musicians who know their instruments inside out. Every single one of them sounds exactly like they should; tonally correct and possessed of the scale and dimensions that they need to be something you don’t question. The utterly marvellous cover of No Diggerty is sumptuously ‘Hi-Fi’ without ever not being as much fun as it should be. the results are spectacular... exceptional detail retrieval an an extremely even presentation... is a streamer that simply gets out of the way of the music being played.

The audio decoding of the DMP-A6 Master Edition is entrusted to two ESS ES9038 Q2M DAC chips, a high-performance model widely recognized by audiophiles. It also supports high-resolution audio streams up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512, as well as decoding of MQA files. Move up the frequency range and the steps up in articulation and clarity are striking. Voices come through with greater subtlety, and it’s easier to hear changes in intonation and phrasing. The B&W 606 S2 offer a clearer view of the recording and sound more balanced overall. Functionally, this unit is better and easier to use and has an excellent informative screen which may be a boon if you are using it in a desk environment where its easier to see all the information. The high-definition 6" LCD touch screen perfectly integrated into the aluminum chassis of the DMP-A6 Master Edition allows practical and ergonomic use. The user experience is intended to be as intuitive as possible. Thus, it is possible to access all player options and information through this beautiful interface.The DMP-A6 Master Edition is equipped with balanced analog circuitry from the DAC chip to the stereo XLR and RCA outputs. This limits noise and channel separation provides better signal quality. i tried out a number of cables ....Chord Epic USB Vs Epic Coaxial - thats about as fair a comparison between interfaces as you can have - the coaxial sounded better to my ears (and my friends) i had previously used it with Chord Shawline Coaxial Vs Audioquest Coffee - not quite a level playing field but again we both prefered the coaxial input, the coffee was slightly more resolving but the coaxial had a bit more meat on the bones. A simple volume dial with a subtle LED glow around it completes the front panel. We like how you can control the brightness of the screen and the LED dial ring in varying increments. It’s a nice little touch in a product full of thoughtful little extras. Another extra feature? You can choose various spectrum visualisers or VU meter displays to be shown on screen – or neither – to add a layer of interest and retro charm to your streamer. When you consider the flexibility and capabilities of this device at the price point you can forgive a few foibles;
