About this deal

Once your cupcakes are cool, use a piping bag (or a sandwich bag with a hole snipped from the corner) to pipe your frosting on top. You can also simply spread a generous blob of frosting on with a spoon or knife. Here we have very similar looking bite size biscuits except these are milk chocolate coated biscuit balls with caramel flavour cream. I’ll be honest I’m not a fan of the standard Digestive Caramel Biscuits, I find them far too chewy, but these nibbles are rather delightful. Again the biscuit to chocolate ratio is spot on, they still have that crunch factor that makes them biscuity and the quality is good. I couldn’t detect any cream, I am not sure how that’s incorporated in the nibbles but the smell of sweet caramel was instant upon opening, and evident in tasting. These are far nicer than the biscuit version but if anything these nibbles were incredibly sweet and I cannot see people being able to eat many before they are overcome with sweetness and toothache. McVitie’s Brand Director, Kerry Owens said: “The launch of McVitie’s Digestives Nibbles is the most exciting launch for McVitie’s in a number of years, so it stands to reason that we want to celebrate this with another excellent instalment of our sweeet masterbrand campaign – celebrating the everyday moments that we help to make just that little bit better.” In testing, consumers responded incredibly positively to the range, particularly the balanced combination of chocolate and biscuit. Alongside an equally positive response from customers, we are confident this is a long-awaited true innovation for the category.”

They were developed specifically for the UK market - although may launch more widely in future - and are produced in Turkey at Yildiz Holding facilities. Put the chocolate, butter and golden syrup in a microwave-safe bowl, heat for 30 seconds on high/full power, then stir well. Heat again for 30 seconds then stir again. If needed, repeat again and stir until smooth. You may also opt to downgrade to Standard Digital, a robust journalistic offering that fulfils many user’s needs. And now there we have the full range of the New McVitie’s Digestives Nibbles. Of all of the four varieties my favourite is definitely the Dark Chocolate, followed by Milk Chocolate, Double Chocolate and lastly Caramel. I wonder if McVitie’s will soon introduce the Milk Chocolate Orange ones or perhaps go for a completely different flavour that isn’t already apart of their Digestive Biscuit family. Even better I hope and pray for a Hobnob version, because really they are the king of biscuits. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Try not to put the marshmallows into the hot chocolate mixture if it is really hot, as they might melt. If your chocolate seems really hot allow it to cool slightly first. We believe it’s important to do a few things well,” explained Heynen. “Our strategy on McVitie’s is unashamedly the same year on year. It’s about adding a fresh twist to make sure that what we’re doing feels exciting and new.” United Biscuits is taking McVitie’s into the sharing bag format with the launch of Digestives Nibbles. Nibbles are expected to be merchandised in the biscuit aisle in the grocery channel, but United Biscuits said some convenience stores might sell them from the confectionery aisle. If you don’t have these where you are, look for any chocolate-covered biscuit pieces.Or you can use crushed biscuits of course.

More No-Bake

United Biscuits (UB) will launch McVitie’s Digestive Nibbles, in what the company described as its “biggest new product development” for 2016. United Biscuits – which was acquired by Yildiz Holding in 2014 – said the Digestive Nibbles were the first innovation of its kind for the UK biscuit category, describing them as “ perfect” for sharing at home in the evening with friends and family. You must have seen McVities Digestive Nibbles in the shops. They are Digestive biscuit balls covered in chocolate. Preheat your oven – 180 C / 160 C fan / 350 F / gas mark 4 – and line a 12-hole cupcake or muffin tin with paper, foil or silicone cupcake cases. When you have frosted all of your little cakes, decorate however you like with some McVitie’s Chocolate Digestives or McVitie’s Chocolate Digestive Nibbles. I used a few biscuit crumbs as well as the Nibbles – I much prefer the higher chocolate to biscuit ratio!
