About this deal

Author’s voice from then and now, of course, had changed immensely! It was divided into two parts, when I began reading I had a hard time hitting the right tones of the voice. As to the experiences were not of mine personally nor I could connect with yet. It took me time to fully hit and felt emotions as to where and where it is all coming from; that was what I thought with the first part. As for the latter part, I liked it better! I felt the lyrical change and flow of the verses. Plus the good balance between the longer pieces and the short ones is something to note of. It does not come as overwhelming nor underwhelming to one. Her poems are, for me, a unique kind of magic. There's no repetition. There's no one-sentence poems. She fleshes an idea all the way out. Even if her poem is one to which I cannot personally relate, it will often resonate. There's one in this collection about swinging from ropes into a lake with her friends, an experience to which I've never had anything close, and I still felt it, because she made me. Mermaids appear in Greek mythology as well. Achilles’ mother was said to be a Nereid named Thetis. Another notable Nereid was Amphrite, who married Poseidon and whose son is Triton, a merman. In Assyrian myths, the goddess of fertility, Atargatis, cast herself into a lake and became a mermaid.

I love that her poems are so accessible. Anyone can read and enjoy and find something to which they can relate. I think she's an amazing example of how you do not have to use overly complicated, flowery language to say something profound. Something that will haunt the reader for the foreseeable future. If you are a mermaid fan, these 31 Mermaid Poems & Ideas will help you to express your adoration for the beautiful mythical mermaid. Famous Mermaid Poems

Memorable Mermaid Poems

But this...this was phewww. I read the poems aloud(not weird at all), and many, many times I wanted to cry and laugh at the same time at the sheer splendour of it. I wanted to stand on my balcony and scream out loud " THERE IS STILL BEAUTY IN THE WORLD! IT'S STILL THERE..."

With CvR, it's so hard to choose quotes. I have so much bookmarked and highlighted because I'm so in love with her work. If I shared everything I love, this review would be nearly as long as the collection.

I came from my deleted tumblr. I still remember the feeling when I read this poem. It had hit me hard cuz it was simple. It is simple but not cheesy. I’m not sure what to say about change except that it reminds me of the Bible story with the lions’ den. But you are not named Daniel and you have not been praying, so God lets the beasts get a few deep, painful swipes at you before the morning comes and you’re pulled into the light, exhausted and cut to shit. I quite liked most of the poems in this collections. They deal with mental health, love, loss, social interactions, relationships and family. They are well written, the layout is interesting and the honesty in which issues are presented is raw yet rewarding: you can survive, life can be good. von Radics: I don’t know about other people, but when I write about an emotional experience, it’s never a very good poem. People’s diary entries aren’t very good poems. There’s just a lot of pain and anger. I want to wait until I have a little bit more perspective on whatever has happened and I can phrase it in a beautiful way, so I can have a sense of compassion to the other people in the story and make it more true rather than subjective. I try to wait until it’s more of a concise story and not just scrambling to write about the willy-nilly. There were some poems that were okay but I could still feel the emotion behind her words. I cannot wait to read some of her other poetry collections!

I bought Wrong Side of a Fistfight and got “Home” for free with it, which is a good thing because I might otherwise have regretted buying it. I felt much the same about this poetry collection as I did with 'Love & Misadventure', it makes the same mistakes and has many of the same flaws. To date, this is my second Clementine von Radics book! I fell in love with her earlier work, Mouthful Forevers. And so with latest one! It's not the matter of what you tell but how you tell. This one is a good example. I'm a huge anti of inspiring/confessional poems as much as a fan so it's important the way you choose. Like nowadays they sound similar but not trying to be an anthem which is so lame (usually under of minimal poem.) III. The last time I tried to scream I felt my father climbing up through my throat and into my mouth.

I’m not in control of how intelligent I was born. I’m not in control of my inspiration. I’m not in control of whether or not I’m a genius or truly gifted. What I am in control of is my work ethic.” Sometimes your mermaid poems come in the sweetest stanzas… perfect for cards, captions and texts to your ocean loving friends. von Radics: What was I like as a teenager? [laughs] I was scared and lonely. Nerdy. I really, really loved art. And I was very, very excited to be a grown-up. I had a couple of friends that I still really, really love that I knew as a teenager. Definitely, the best years of my life have been since I was a teenager.
