About this deal

After a few years of wearing this fragrance I have decided to write a review, which is something I never do, simply because it has become one of my all time favourites. But then being the evening scent, I don’t need the perfume for that long also. Evening and Nightwear perfume, do not need to go for more than 4 hours.

Maybe a little too boozy opening for some? No worries. An hour in that note fades and the rest keep on projecting. I think you just keep the application minimal and it's fine. Overspray and it can get a bit much. Kind of old school but it a good way. Substitute rum for the conifer in any of the "Bogart-One Man Show" frags and that's kind of where this fits in. Cold weather scent for sure. Perfect for the slopes and the ski lodge. Not summer wear, not club wear. Date scent if used sparingly. Not office appropriate to my nose. Too sweet and boozy. You'll come across as that VP everyone talks about that drinks Rum and Coke with his lunch and falls asleep in the middle of meetings. It is amazing how something that uses so less can produce so much. There are not many notes in play here, however, the blend and mastery are amazing to drive you crazy. Opening Notes – You will Love the New YouDespite fragrantica stating this is warm spicy, I find this to be the definition of FRESH/SOFT SPICY. Let me say that I love the scent. While it shares some similarities with Spicebomb and Spicebomb extreme, it has enough elements those two fragrances do not have to make itself stand out. This is primarily a combination of a more prevalent tobacco note in the opening combined with the subtle booziness of the rum overtop of an even more subtle iris note which is wrapped in a smooth leather accord that’s much smoother than even the already-smooth Ombré Leather from Tom Ford (I am not comparing the two, just bringing that in for reference).

You need to go close to him to unleash and to know his powers. Fire is addictive and you just want to glare at it endlessly. You want to see into it and through it. With every gush, you see a new variation of color. And it is all there in the perfume. Versatility: 8.0 (you may still have to "teach" other people to appreciate this wonderful fragrance; but you may well use it everywhere except the beach, gym, workout and any kind of hot sweaty place) Scent Drydown: 9.0 (tonka and benzoin add a resinous sweetness still kept in the dark by guaiac wood)It has good longevity, much better than Bvlgari Man, but again it hangs around as a skin kind of scent, so don’t expect to blow off the doors with this one. I tend to get in the six hour range, during the winter months. The projection is decent in the initial phase. You will feel the whiffs of Rum notes coupled with sweet tobacco and spices. Definitely not for all occasions type perfume. And also this perfume is not for everyone either. You would only appreciate it if you know what is going on behind this perfume.

A fragrance for men. You may want to use it in the summer because of its permanence and silage. It becomes a little more permanent in the summer season. But in general, it is like the smell of winter and autumn.

Review of Bvlgari Man In Black

If you are someone who wants projection, longevity and a winter masterpiece then go with Oud Ispahan by Dior. But then it is the usual oriental smell. The Projection is not much and what so ever is there, you will notice it for initial 20-25 minutes only. You would get whiffs of spices, rum, and tobacco. There onwards it will settle close to your skin. It is not a mass appealing perfume either. It is for you and your close ones. I was super curious to see how similar this was to Spicebomb and the opening blast is extremely similar, although not identical. BMIB has some additional notes and some notable sweetness from the rum. But the similarity is easily apparent. I didn't know what to say (I wasn't expecting to receive such a spontaneous compliment), I just smiled and thanked him. The tonka from the base reminds me of artificial vanilla - like a vanilla aroma without creamyness or sweetness. I'm missing a bit of sandalwood in here to make it a creamier, more based vanilla. The guaiac wood and benzoin create an incensey, a bit of catholic church incense-like vibe with dry woodyness and resins.

The heart is not far apart from the spicy boozy opening. Tuberose starts the sweet cycle of this perfume, but the sweetness reais up with a sour dark leather that contributes to the fragrance DNA. You have the power, but you also exhale some smoothness and sweetness. Rum and tobacco notes are different in their characteristics. A coolness with the harshness of tobacco. But the ratio is so perfect that tobacco never overtakes Rum. And the warmth in winter that you need is provided by the spices. I feel a mix of coriander and Nutmeg alongside star anise, but it is not mentioned which spices notes are actually used. If you know TF, this one feels like Bvlgari take on TF Noir extreme. Spicebomb for grown-ups, spiced DHIReceived a sample from a friend. This fragrance is very unique. A sweet but not cloying combination of spice, boozy tobacco and leather. A friend stated it smells like someone poured rum into a baseball glove. At first I found a distinct medicinal and sharp smell somewhat like what many describe as medicinal benzoine. But after approximately 30 minutes in the drydown those notes become more tame and less astringent. I cannot detect the floral iris in this that defines the fragrance as a floral scent. It's a very enjoyable fragrance, is one of my favorite scent profiles I have, and stands out to me as very original in my collection.
