About this deal

Lightweight, works in the wind, great piezo igniter, fuel efficient, very stable for a small canister stove In addition, it is worth noting that Japan has some of the highest gas stove safety standards in the world. I am not aware of any Chinese stoves that have been able to meet the strict Japanese standards. I have seen some US (Coleman) and European (Primus) brands on my trips to Japan. The Brs camping stoves are sterling alternative for shoppers who adore spending their money on the ground, this ultralight camping stove comes with an 25-gauge firebox, so you can be sure you're getting a quality product. It also gives an on-demand cook function that makes it effortless to get started, and an automatic shut-off system that keeps the stove running for hours on end, with a design that effortless to keep clean, this camping stove is puissant for someone who wants to camp. What’s nice is this stove’s pot supports are wide enough for a variety of cookware sizes (we tried it with 1-2L pots and an 8-inch pan). Unless you are looking at a more top-of-the-line option and cost is no issue, the BRS 3000T is really impossible to beat for the money. And if you specifically want an ultralight isobutane canister stove, the BRS-3000T is impossible to beat at any price.

At first glance, we had concerns about the scalloped, curvy pot stand lips (which are designed to be compatible with BioLite’s pot and grill cookware). But upon testing, we had no issues balancing off-brand pots as well, even a small 1L pot. Alcohol stoves are very light and simple. In the past they were the dominant choice for thru-hikers because of their weight, affordability, and readily available fuel in small towns. That’s not so much the case anymore. Over the past few years canister stoves have become much more common among thru-hikers because of their convenience, speed, weight, and safety. Also, it’s getting much easier to find isobutane canister fuel in small trail towns. Solo’s Alcohol Burner also features a screwtop cap and rubber gasket, so you can store liquid fuel directly inside. It’s a truly compact system. This stove takes about 5 minutes to bring a liter of water to boil (although wind and weather can add a few minutes to boil time). It weighs just 3.5 ounces and is super compact. But first, why should anyone care about wind? Well, in the extreme, a stove can just plain blow out, and blow out so often that one just can't cook with it. See the rather dramatic first video in Windburner vs. Jetboil Wind Testing. A good practice to get into when getting a new campstove is to set it up in your kitchen and cook on it for a few days using different pots and pans until you get a feel for what works best. This way you can be certain that your expectation will match reality when you are out there in the wild for the first time with the new stove. Do you need a windscreen for the BRS 3000T stove? Not everyone needs the tiniest stoveon the market. Especially if you camp year-round, you’ll want to choose a four-season stove, or one better rated for cold performance. The Soto Amicus is a small, relatively lightweight, relatively inexpensive upright canister stove. There are dozens of such stoves available on the market today. How is the Amicus any different from any other stove? Well, the Amicus is the best built of the lot and has a really nice design, but that's not what sets it apart. Soto claims that they have developed a new type of burner head, one that can handle wind better than other stoves. This windproofness would set the Amicus apart from other stoves. So, either the Amicus handles wind better or it's really nothing special. Therefore, wind testing was the major focus of my field testing. Is Soto just "blowing smoke" or are they really on to something here?

What's an upright canister stove? Please see my recent blog post: What is a Remote Canister Stove?which describes the two major types of canister gas stoves (upright and remote) and lists the advantages and disadvantages of each. It's worth knowing the difference. Our only con with this stove was that It took more than a few tries with matches and is much easier to light with a lighter.

Analysis and Test Results

The rest of the stove seems to be made out of numerous other metals including stainless steel and brass. The body might be a mix of titanium and other metals. It doesn’t look like solid titanium, but it doesn’t look like the typical aluminum alloy that you usually see either. The ability to regulate the gas control easily means the BRS-3000T is effective in simmering if required. Again, this stove is better used for shorter amounts of time, so if you are simmering, keep an eye on the pot supports to ensure they’re not getting too hot. This is not a stove you want to cook rice from scratch in a large pot. Yes, you have great flame control with the BRS-3000T, and you can adjust the flame very low for simmering foods. However, as mentioned above, the BRS-3000T does not have a pressure regulator which can make keeping a low flame consistent a bit of a challenge. Especially if the canister is low on fuel. The above picture is taken with the the '30' jet & 100% paraffin immediately after the last of the meths flame died.
