The main character is a former elite soldier, so you can expect him to be fit, strong, and very good at hand-to-hand and ranged combat. Plus he’s a sex-machine. I need him to be like this to tell the story the way I planned. If you want to play with an inexperienced guy, who is despised by women and who will only have his first sexual experience after a long time, maybe this game is not for you.

It’s also a riveting and exciting read.Since some people didn’t find the online store easily in the past version, a link to the store has now been added every time you get an in-game tip about buying a gift. The story begins with a very brief look into Equiano’s early years and covers his journey through the Caribbean and England. There is an afterword that speaks in detail of the man and his time in England after earning his freedom. This section proved more insightful than the main story.

Changed the beach event with Gina on day 20 so that Erica can show up if you’re using any car available in the car store. Prior to this change, Erica would only show up if you were using the most expensive car. You still need a buyable car and do well on her quiz to be invited to races in the future. Standardized sound effects volume (a little lower than before but still louder than music to stand out). Equiano’s narrative ought to have rendered the reader emotional at least to some extent. However, the writing style makes the story very bland. Despite the first person narrative, we never feel connected to the lead character. Sometimes, it feels like we are just reading facts as he moves from one place to another, whether as a slave or as a free man. There is no character detailing. For instance, how does he understand every English speaker around him when he was a newly-minted slave? Why does he talk so much of his white owners/wellwishers but hardly anything of his family? What did he feel when the Brits taught him beliefs from Christianity? How did he accept such a different faith so easily? Why did he willingly get baptised? There are many such instances when the insight into the actions is almost non-existent, left at a surface-level mention.Added an Autowin button in every fighting minigame after losing the same fight three times. The same mechanic is already present in the dancing and shooting minigames. Catherine Johnson’s historical fiction is meticulously researched, richly imagined and beautifully written; her latest novel is inspired by the autobiography of Equiano, and focuses on the decade in which he was captured and enslaved, before managing to buy his freedom at the age of 21. Changed the code of all interactive scenes to a cleaner, more standardized version in preparation for what I have planned for the near future.

Added instructions on how to proceed in the bridge sniper mission. Also, a skip button has been added for all parts of the sniper mission. Note: Keep in mind that when you use the skip button, the game will consider that you chose to spare the enemies’ lives by shooting their legs. So, if you want the maximum amount of corruption and Reed’s respect, you will need to manually shoot enemies. This book is published by dyslexic-friendly publisher Barrington Stoke. It’s also a great book for young people who need an easier reading level combined with rich subject matter that works for teenagers (sometimes called high/low). There is nothing in this book which is unsuitable for readers aged 9 plus but it does work for older children too. Catherine Johnson is really the queen of historical fiction for young people and this book is another fantastic one to add to the long list.

There is mention of a female slave being muzzled; one person gets shot during a battle and the bullet goes right through his cheek; several references are made to slaves being tortured; and of course, we have Equiano’s forced kidnapping at a young age. The book is officially meant for ages 9+, but some of these facts might be too traumatising for sensitive young readers. Olaudah gets to have many fascinating conversations in the book which explore what it is like to be owned, and also how ‘owning’ a person affects people and is so truly dreadful even if the owners act fairly kindly. Note: I could have easily fixed the bug and still kept the number 0 as drawable. But since many roulette wheels around the world do not use the number 0, I chose to remove it from the minigame, leaving the roulette wheel with 36 possible numbers. Slightly changed the design of the “Others” gallery to group scenes for each character, making them easier to identify.
