Which of the units from their army will start the battle embarked within TRANSPORT models (they must specify which units are embarked within which model). In an Arks of Omen: Grand Tournament mission, each unit from your army with the Dedicated Transport Battlefield Role must start the battle with one or more friendly models embarked within it, or it cannot be set up and will count as having been destroyed during the first battle round. Players now start each battle with half as many as before – three for Incursions and six for Strike Force battles. Instead, Arks of Omen introduces an entirely new Warhammer 40k game mode, titled Boarding Actions. This mode sees players take smaller armies of 500 points into the Arks of Omen themselves, fighting room-by-room to achieve objectives, kill foes, and retrieve loot. If your Arks of Omen Detachment is a CHAOS Detachment, you can include one CHAOS KNIGHTS Super-heavy Auxiliary Detachment (containing one DREADBLADE unit) as an Allied Detachment.

Plant Explosives (Action): One or more RAVEN GUARD CORE INFANTRY units from your army can start to perform this action at the end of your Movement phase. Each unit from your army that starts to perform this action must be within range of a different objective marker you control that does not have explosives planted on it by your army (see below). The action is completed at the end of your turn. If completed, that objective marker is said to have explosives planted on it by your army. If you want to muster a fresh army to take advantage of the Arks of Omen Detachment, there are also four new Adeptus Astartes Battleforces* that’ll give you a great starting point – or help you expand on your army with loads of models and Chapter-themed upgrades. Compare this to Chaos Knights and it’s even more bemusing, as their version of this rule does have the exception.

As well as spinning an epic yarn, Arks of Omen: Abaddon lets you take part in the saga of the Balefleets by introducing rules and missions for Boarding Actions – a whole new way to play Warhammer 40,000, offering fast-paced games set within the confines of voidcraft, space hulks, and orbital stations. New rules to spice up competitive play is always great too! Hopefully, this can help keep the game open to creativity with tons of viable options. All The Chapter Approved 2023 Arks of Omens 40k Rules Updates, Points Changes, Missions, & Secondary Objectives Chaos Daemons get a wave of cost reductions. These focus heavily on less commonly-chosen units like Bloodcrushers and Plaguebearers – regular daemonhunters will be pleased to learn that the cost of Flamers remains unchanged.It might be better for new players as instead of constantly having to search through their book for stratagems, they just won’t have the CP to do it.
