Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker (2006)". Box Office Flops. Archived from the original on 1 June 2016 . Retrieved 18 May 2016. a b Clarke, Stewart (24 July 2018). "Alex Rider Series Heads to TV with Sony, Eleventh Hour". Variety . Retrieved 4 December 2019. Becquart, Charlotte (4 March 2021). "Filming of Cornwall surfing scene for series caught on camera". CornwallLive. From internationally bestselling author Anthony Horowitz comes the twelfth thrilling installment of the Alex Rider series! Follow the world’s greatest teen spy as he sets off to Gibraltar after the death of Scorpia, and enters into a battle against a new criminal organization: Nightshade.

Tom Harris is Alex's best friend at Brookland High School, first introduced in Scorpia, where he and Alex are holidaying in Venice. Tom's parents were going through an unpleasant divorce, and Tom was weary of their squabbling. He was invited to a holiday in Naples by his brother Jerry, and gladly accepted, bringing Alex along. In Venice he witnesses Alex stop a burglary, and creates a diversion which allows Alex to enter Casa'Vedova. Tom then becomes Alex's closest ally and confidant, learning about his friend's secret work for MI6 and aiding him further. Story four, ‘Secret Weapon,’ was the perfect short story. I absolutely loved how it was connected to a small event that took place in in the very iconic first novel of Stormbreaker. The prison escape was cool, the action and final showdown was brilliant and most of all, I loved seeing Tom Harris again. He is such a great character and his connection with Alex is unrivalled. I don’t think you can have a better short story than this. As a short story I give it 5 stars. As the series progresses, Alex becomes more skilled at spying. He later pursues Damian Cray alone after MI6 refuse to investigate him, and is recruited by the CIA in the United States, and later by the ASIS in Australia although in each case only for specific missions. Seeking revenge against Alex, the Clone Alex travels to London. Meanwhile, Kyra learns that her parents are dead and escapes the Department's safehouse. She visits Alex's school, where she and Tom talk about Point Blanc before parting ways. Putting his plan into action, the Clone Alex ruins Alex's relationships with Tom and a girl named Ayisha, who is in love with Alex. Meanwhile, Dr. Greif is assassinated by Yassen to conceal his true employers. Still troubled by his recent adventure and frayed friendship with Tom, Alex tells Mrs Jones about his encounter with a man with a scar. Mrs. Jones realises that Yassen Gregorovitch, whom the Department thought dead, is still alive and that SCORPIA, known for causing terrorist incidents, has come out of hiding. The Department also realises that Dr Greif's eighth clone is missing. At the school prom, the Clone Alex beats up and apprehends Tom, demanding that Alex meet him. Alex fights his Clone imposter on school grounds as the Department arrives. Tom manages to subdue the Clone Alex, who is arrested by the Department but breaks free. Yassen assassinates the Clone imposter, saving Alex's life. While Alex wants to return to a normal life, Blunt appears to have other plans for him...Otto Farrant as Alex Rider, [2] a highly skilled teenager who is recruited by the Department of Special Operations. I was super excited to read these extra adventures. Most of them take place in between the events of the first 4 books of the series, and some offer some fun extra information about Alex's life outside of the main stories, and even some interesting details about the side characters he interacts with throughout the series. Skeleton Key was published in 2002. After foiling a Triad plot to fix the 2001 Wimbledon tennis tournament and befriending Sabina, Alex is in grave danger of assassination. Forced to leave the country, MI6 sends him on a mission to Cuba with two doubtful CIA agents, of whom he is the sole survivor. He encounters former Soviet general Alexei Sarov, who tries to adopt Alex and expresses ideas of a nuclear holocaust and world domination under communist rule. Alex then foils his plans saving the world for a third time. In July 2018, it was reported that Sony Pictures Television had replaced ITV as Eleventh Hour Film's distribution and financial partner for a new Alex Rider television series. Sony Pictures Television's international and worldwide distribution divisions under Wayne Garvie and Keith Le Goy were attached to the film series. Burt had adapted Point Blanc, the second book in the Alex Rider novel series, for television. Horowitz will serve as executive producer for the series. [9] Anthony Horowitz announced in March 2016 that he will be publishing a collection of Alex Rider short stories.

Of the seven stories, only one felt like it had a more developed plot (difficult to achieve anyway with short stories, but still...) and the remaining six felt very superficial, especially implausible and actually quite hard to read. I expected fast paced, allegedly “explosive”, stories but in actuality they were pretty dry. I won’t be reading any further into the series, but I can see that this would be great for fans who want to revisit Alex one last time. This short story is set five or six months before the beginning of Stormbreaker, meaning that this is the first short story chronologically. It was published in two parts, part two being printed a week after the first part. Notably, this story is written in the first person, from Alex Rider's perspective, and it is currently the only part of the series written this way.

In May 2017, Variety reported that Eleventh Hour Films had optioned the film rights for Horowitz's Alex Rider series and would produce the series for ITV. Guy Burt was attached as showrunner. [9] The series is directed by Andreas Prochaska and Christopher Smith. From internationally bestselling author Anthony Horowitz comes the fourteenth thrilling installment of the Alex Rider series! Follow the world’s greatest teen spy as he sets off to California to battle Nightshade once again–this time, for good. Readers ages 8 to 15 with a taste for tough-guy thrills will gobble this one up."-- Wall Street Journal
