Alternate Erotic Footage (HD, 5 min) — As the title implies, this is the forgotten, explicit sex scene shot by Pierre Quérut, which was filmed for another version of Franco's original vision. De extras tiene entrevistas con Jesus Franco, y diversos productores que trabajaron con el, un corte la cual iba a ser la tercera versión de la película, con un toque más erótico, y varios trailers de otras películas de Jesus Franco. Christina von Blanc (The Dead Are Alive) is Christina Benson, who has come to Europe for the reading of her father's (Paul Muller, a Franco regular) will. Soon learning that her relatives - like Howard Vernon as Uncle Howard - are all the living dead, she sees them as a way to avoid her loneliness and invites them to stay. But her father committed suicide, so the Queen of the Night (Anne Libert, The Erotic Rites of Frankenstein) owns his soul forever unless she can save him. The Blu-ray also includes a universally-disliked, 5-minute deleted scene depicting an orgy. It’s nice to see for the sake of completion (and eye candy), but the movie fares better without it. (Frankly, even Franco’s original cut would have been more effective without relying so heavily on nudity.) In additional to the alternate footage, the Blu-ray also includes one of the last on-camera interviews with Franco, who speaks fondly of the film; two featurettes about the film and Franco, made up of interviews with his collaborators and historians; a new commentary by the always-informative Tim Lucas; trailers and a photo gallery.

Gibron, Bill (2013-09-17). "A Virgin Among The Living Dead: Remastered Edition". DVD Talk . Retrieved 2015-02-16. The film culminates in a sexual ritual that is severely--not to mention ridiculously, at least with the "Zombie 4" version--edited on any of the American prints. In fact, many of the scenes that help make the film more cohesive are also excised from American prints. The (as close as possible to) uncut version is really good if given a chance. Though not necessary, outside. . .influences can only help the viewer (and no doubt were used during the making of this trash classic). "Virgin" + melatonin + dank fun dreamy state. Although I cannot argue that the original cut could have used some extra pizzazz to create a more engaging film, the added zombie subplot failed to accomplish that. The footage is neat to see – Rollin was a good choice for the director’s chair in Franco’s absence – but the new scenes have nothing to do with the movie. They’re out of place, they kill the atmosphere, and they delay the already-slow pace. That said, A Virgin Among the Living Dead certainly fares better than Franco and Rollin’s other collaboration, Zombie Lake.I would like to say something about Franco's use of nudity: while frequently gratuitous, it is also undeniably striking (at least judging by this film and EUGENIE) – and watching, say, Christina von Blanc asleep or taking a swim in the nude is not simply a case of voyeurism because the images in themselves are beguiling on an artistic level. That said, the S&M lesbian scene between Nichols and the blind girl is quite a head-scratcher! In my opinion, Nichols' seduction of von Blanc is the film's most potent sexual image. a b c Blumberg, Arnold T.; Hershberger, Andrew (2013) [2006]. Zombiemania. Telos Publishing. p.354. ISBN 978-1-84583-817-1. Mysterious Dreams (HD, 11 min) — An interesting conversation with filmmaker Jesús Franco sharing memories about the production, shooting locations and the cast.

I hazard a guess that the huge, overwhelming majority of movies given the "dreamlike" tag are such pictures. "Dreamlike" is just a polite way of saying "nonsensical". "Virgin Among the Living Dead" is a rare example of a movie that achieves its dreamlike atmosphere, and its eroticism. In so doing it is like a living rebuke to "Vampyros Lesbos". The only thing that movie had over this was the presence of Soledad Miranda. The main actress in "Virgin" is beautiful but doesn't have the hypnotic quality Miranda effortlessly possessed. The story revolves around a girl who travels to a remote mansion for the reading of the will of her recently deceased father. While there she encounters her very strange relatives and pretty soon a series of bizarre events start to occur, including strange supernatural happenings. La otra es la que da nombre al Blu-ray " A Virgin Among the Living Dead" la cual tiene 15 minutos de escenas extras, donde incorporan zombies, en lo personal este corte no es nada recomendable, y sólo debe verse como un agregado. Christina von Blanc, an achingly beautiful creature, plays Englishwoman "Christine" who journeys to the rambling estate of her late father (Franco regular Paul Muller) for the reading of his will. Her stay is a nightmarish one as she is harassed by several socially challenged relatives (Howard Vernon being one), a muttering Igor (Franco himself) and local miscreants. Starring Christina von Blanc, Britt Nichols, Rosa Palomar, Howard Vernon, Anne Libert, Jess Franco, Paul Muller

Performances are something that don't often get talked about when it comes to any Franco movie, which is a shame because we've got some great stuff here. This includes von Blanc who perfectly makes you believe the innocence of the character. Britt Nichols is wonderful as the overly sexual member of the family and Vernon is always worth watching. Muller and Anne Libert are good in their roles as is Franco who plays a dimwit. Another item that often gets criticized is Franco's use of zooms but they actually work well here and help build up the atmosphere and coldness of the picture. A Virgin Among the Living Dead is characteristic of the films that Jess Franco was making during this period. He has obtained the use of a beautiful location (a French chateau by the looks of it). He shoots much languorous and arty softcore erotica, all of which seems rather tame today – lots of scenes of women cavorting but little in the way of actual sex. Typical of his films, the plot seems irrelevant – almost as though Franco and the cast improvised most of the scenes themselves. The effect on a narrative level is more akin to the pretension-laden surrealism of a student film.
